Re: Nagoya Underworlds Meetups Thread
We had a fun day out today up at the store - everyone seemed to get the "let's go full goblin mode" memo, it seemed like everyone had some flavor of Gitz or another in their bag today.
Next meetup will be March 8th!

Re: Nagoya Underworlds Meetups Thread
I went up to the Friday night Underworlds-after-work jobber at the Osu store tonight. Starting at 6:30 means there's only really time for one game, but when you've got nothing else to do on Friday night (and now that classes are out I don't) why not? I had a very fun Zarbag's mirror match with group regular Kakio-san, and eked out an 18-16 win which probably reflects badly on my skill* since I was using a Nemesis deck and he was just using Rivals. That said, we were both using Pillage and Plunder, a strong-to-start-with deck that synergizes nicely with some of the tricks the grots can play with the action economy.
*Or, to put it more charitably, reflects well on him. Kakio-san is always a very thoughtful player and he has a strong A-game to bring to the table.

Kakio-san is one of many opponents who unfairly beat me by thinking through their moves when I am playing on pure vibes
He's a good egg.
Glad people are making it to Fridays, though between work and class I never will

Just a reminder that our next meetup is this Saturday at the Osu store! Jye and I will both be there, and will doubtless have everything we'd need on hand to run interested parties through a demo game or two.

Excited to be keeping up our tradition of being at the store playing while the new stuff is being delivered to our homes
. I'll probably pull out a few old favourites again to give 'em a run in 2e.

Re: Nagoya Underworlds Meetups Thread
GTHBA today, to the extent that I don't really remember how many games I won or lost (aside from the unfortunate blowout against the new guy I played
). Lots of close, fun, brain-busty games, and I really feel like I'm beginning to get the hang of the Looncourt too. Next meetup isn't until April 12th, so I'll probably aim to get out on a Friday or two, or just go in on a weekend and play some games (we did talk about breaking out WarCry too, so something like that might be an opportune time to do so).

I managed to lose against someone in their first game, which I will pretend is because I was being nice and not that I lacked the skill to keep squishy elves alive in the face of Orruk brutality
Good times though, and my games were pretty close. I did not expect to win as many as I ended up doing, the cards were kind yesterday.

Re: Nagoya Underworlds Meetups Thread
Greetings,I have been starting to get into the gaming part of the hobby after over a decade,on last Sunday I had the pleasure to play my first game of 40k 10th edition in the "new" combat patrol form.
It was fun and I am still in a re-learning process as I haven't played anything from the early 7th edition of the game,I also brought my minies to Japan and I asm still collecting and painting several armies through these years,so pactically I became more than a collector and painter as there was no one to play the game around for me.
Months ago I had the pleasure to find the new GW shop in Osu so I decided to become active again in the tabletop gaming scene and I would be failry glad to find someone willing to play some combat patrol or 1000 points game in a relaxed and friendly contest

Re: Nagoya Underworlds Meetups Thread
Hey folks,
Just a reminder that the next Nagoya Underworlds meetup is this coming Saturday (the 12th) at the Osu store! Underworlds-curious parties should absolutely drop by for a demo, it don't cost nothin' but the standard temptation of entering the Warhammer store.

Re: Nagoya Underworlds Meetups Thread
We had a pretty good turnout yesterday - good time had by all &c, plus I think Jye and I are starting to realize that moving the venue to Osu means we suddenly have a very exciting choice of lunch venues.
Game chat: I tried out the Looncourt with the new little-guys / damaged-guys focused deck with very mixed results. I think it might be another deck that will shine in Nemesis but has some pretty big asks in Rivals, although I did have a "mirror" match with the Condemnors using the same deck that came down to a low-score tiebreaker so who knows. Jye noted that the way that core box decks (and warbands) are reliable if a bit boring and the later-release decks are a bit edge-casey and janky is probably a good thing for the health of the game and it definitely feels true to me, but we'll see how further releases go.
I also brought out Ylthari's Guardians with a Nemesis deck which has a lot of potential (managing to score all 12 of my objective cards by the end of round 2 against Kakio-san and his Beastgrabbas) but which did stall out a bit against Suzuki-san with a cannily-piloted Thricefold Discord. I think it comes down to Kakio-san not being comfortable with his warband and focusing most of his mental energy on running it, letting me do whatever the hell I wanted, while Suzuki-san was able to play defensively and shut down my own scoring ability. 2nd edition's relatively "knowable" card pool and generally smoothly-scoring objectives seem to go together to mean that higher-level play will require and reward counterplay, which is a good thing IMO even if my own vibes-oriented playstyle doesn't always get there.
Next month will be May the 10th! I may look at the store's schedule over Golden Week and maybe see if anyone wants to head up there for Underworlds or Spearhead or something similarly portable as well.
