I dont miss squats. (There I said it). They were ok, but I think that everyone tends to remember the older stuff through the rose tinted glasses of nostalgia. I'd rather see Genestealer Cults brought back. :D

Unless you played Space Marines or Eldar. :) I honestly don't understand why people harp on about Virus grenades, Vortex grenades, etc. Did people use them a lot? Did you all play against ****s at the time? I remember seeing a Vortex Grenade twice, and one of those times, my Techmarine managed to take out his onw Land Raider with it. I certainly don't remember Dave being a cheesemaster like he alluded to.

Actually, Dave, I've played about a dozen games of 5th edition, and three or four of those were less than 500 points.

I used to play Space Marines and IG. And I used to play against ****s seemingly every time. :D My local store was full of them as was my school.

I played nearly every game of 40k in RT v Squats and I played against IG in 2nd because that is when the imperial lists got the Assassin I once shot him with every one of my 60 grots and only managed to wound him once... Terminator that rolled its saves on 2d6 Mega armor gave us our first taste of feel no pain and blood Axe Commandos... sometime I wish they had just let it be 2 Edition and left it at that. As to the Virus bomb it never work on me granted it was more tempting for my friend to take a vortex grenade...

I had a buddy who would field a Hawk Exarch with a Vortex every game, along with Eldrad, of course.

Most of the time we'd house rule, "No virus, rad or vortex". (My buddy with the Vortex Hawk, well, it was his house.) 2nd edition Eldar were unstoppable. I remember reading a tactica a guy wrote back then which said in short, "Eldar are unstoppable. Don't rush out turn one. Hide, get into position and turn two pop-up, teleport, Hawk-drop one flank. Repeat turn 3. They were unstoppable until the Tyranid codex came out. I wouldn't even play against nids in those days.
Genestealer Cults were fun! I had about 500pts or so cobbled together. I always had a Batmobile/Cult limo conversion in the back of my mind.
