Welcome
Re: Welcome
Hi!
Thank you for the information, very helpful! Earlier is better for me so I will try first thing and see how it goes!
That all sounds great. I have had hardly any practice with 9th edition so anything for me would be good! Do you recommend preparing anything, such as a army list with points etc...?
Thanks again!

Re: Welcome
I would suggest a 25PL list and optionally a 50PL list (that's roughly 500pts/1000pts, I think PL is easier for your first few games but it's much of a muchness outside a few edge cases). Playing a few 25PL games is ideal to get up to speed, they're pretty fast and will bed down the core concepts quickly. 50PL is probably our most common game size, as you can get more toys on the board without it being too much slower.Mephiston wrote: ↑Mon Nov 21, 2022 11:57 pmHi!

What faction are you planning on playing?
Re: Welcome
Ah, I see! Thank you! I will have a look and see if I put together a list or two. Haven't done one in a while so might do some research first!Jye Nicolson wrote: ↑Tue Nov 22, 2022 12:07 amI would suggest a 25PL list and optionally a 50PL list (that's roughly 500pts/1000pts, I think PL is easier for your first few games but it's much of a muchness outside a few edge cases). Well, this time last year I had nothing and then I went a bit nuts and got Blood Angels, Ultramarines, Astra Militarum, Tau, Orks and Necrons. Nearly all painted up too! Most are around 25PL, Orks and Necrons around 50PL. Think I was trying to make up for the last 15 years of no 40K! I went and got a ton of terrain too so I can always provide some if there is need!

Awesome! Yes I know that feeling and I too have far too many armiesMephiston wrote: ↑Tue Nov 22, 2022 12:40 amAh, I see! Thank you! I will have a look and see if I put together a list or two. Haven't done one in a while so might do some research first!

Terrain is always welcome. Don't feel you have to haul too much stuff but if you can fit in enough to make a reasonably dense 30x44 board that would help the cause.

Yes, I just couldn't help myself! Once I started purchasing stuff it was hard to stop!Jye Nicolson wrote: ↑Tue Nov 22, 2022 12:59 amAwesome! Yes I know that feeling and I too have far too many armiesIt's actually a lot of fun to play different armies and it gives you options if a given faction is too weak or too strong in the meta; I'd still suggest trying to focus a little bit when you're still learning the core game as it can be difficult to remember army rules and strats from game to game if you're changing them all the time. Like I do every month.

Good idea, I will probably stick with Necrons for a bit, they are my favorite after all!
Ah, okay, I will see if I can bring a few terrain items then! I also have some rubber gaming mats (44x60) if there is any need too! Although a car would probably be needed for that!
Thanks again!
Re: Welcome
Hi all,
I'm Jesse. And I'm not a Warhammer Wargame player. I love the TRPG though!
I live in Nagoya and I"m a TRPG publisher; my company is called Sons of the Singularity. I'm interested in organizing board game, wargame, and TRPB events in Nagoya.

Re: Welcome
Hi Jesse, welcome to Naghammer. Most of the chatter here on the board involves our little plastic toys, but most of us dabble in TRPGs and boardgames and the like. I've been playing DnD with my old junior/high school buddies remotely even. We have been playing "Death May Die" pretty regularly at the monthly meetings. And some of us just finished up a "Darkest Dungeon" campaign and are going to be starting a "Blackstone Fortress" series next this month. Though granted every game I mentioned is about as close to a miniatures skirmish game as a board game can get. One of our members (though have not seem him around recently....jus? jus?, anyhow he is "jus" here on the forum) has been designing a boardgame. Anyhow swing by if you have a chance and say hi. Even if you are not a miniatures guy, you may find some kindred souls.
...and now his Head was full of nothing but Inchantments, Quarrels, Battles, Challenges, Wounds, Complaints, Amours, and abundance of Stuff and Impossibilities.....

Hi Konrad,
Thank you. Sorry I didn't reply earlier; it has been a long time since I used this type of forum and I didn't turn on reply notifications.
I will periodically swing by.
So... I wanted to talk with a forum manager because I have an announcement, and I'm not sure if it's cool to start a thread about it. Basically, I'm starting a mini-convention in Nagoya for July 12th. Details are here: https://sonsofthesingularity.com/kaijucon/. It's in the main hall of the Nagoya International Center. If members of this group are interested, I can reserve a double-table set (actually it's 4 tables put together).
I don't know if I can/should make a thread for this.

Re: Welcome
We've been talking about joining the 2020s and actually using our Discord more, but momentum is a hell of a thing, heh.Jesse C wrote: ↑Mon May 12, 2025 8:08 amHi Konrad,

I'd say absolutely you can and should start a thread - you may have noticed that the forums are pretty quiet, and anything about connecting local gamers to each other is more than welcome!
Feel free to call me Dave!
