Ash's armies 2009-2012

What a day. After magnetising 100 night goblins that I'd painted way back in 2008 I made the gallant effort to re arrange my model collection.
1st off I put all the finished models away in the storage area.
Then I took out all the unpainted stuff and divided into 2 piles.
The in the room pile and the under a cloth for retirement pile.
The in the room pile which is now in a couple of boxes are minis I'd like to paint in the next year or two.
Mainly historical things just for fun not for an army.
Also some Empire units.

Lastly a found a painting space on the floor. Only good for daylight though and a long way from my Devon shed at the beginning of this thread but it still rocks. painting off an unfinished modular gaming board. Just mind that tatami.


Hope you enjoyed this mundane post. Just it's been one hell of a hobby day today and its all been about magnets and boxes. So wanted to share my progress. Sigh lol

Looking nice and organised..my to do pile is shamefully large.

I'm interested in the the orc chariot for definite. Also the LOTR stuff, and maybe the pirates, depending on what the boxes are..

Wow, that's a nice set of stuff. If you really want to part with some of it, I'd be eyeing the Roman tro... Okay I just caught myself doing something I might regret.

But, if you can keep yourself from buying new stuff, it might make sense to hold on to those models and enjoy building them someday. Particularly that LOTR stuff, because I know you are a big fan. (Or sell one faction to Lovejoy or someone else and make yourself a future opponent? If you want I'd love to play Caesar if you'll be Vercingetorix.)

Still, good idea getting it all sorted out.

@Ten: Yes, I have played it. It's very good I have the starter set.
@ Job and Lovejoy fair point perhaps we should wait a week. I might want to paint these some day as you say. Also do you guys really need more models looming over you. I was quite overwhelmed with stuff yesterday. Couldn't quite believe the amount of unfinished things.
@Job. Sure thing, I already have a small Roman army in Britain at the moment 20mm scale.
I won't be buying any more models but perhaps I could build republic Romans or Gauls if you want to play Imperial Rome. Models I have are 20mm already, just the one box of Gauls.
One for next year maybe (after Pike and Shotte)

Good to see it all organised though. Helps the painting process when you know what needs to be done and what doesn't.

I have been getting a lot of painting done recently but in a totally haphazard fashion so nothing gets finished!!! This week I did;

a Bloodbowl Dwarf
a Chaos Squat
an Uncharted Seas Iron Dwarf ship
Ork Kommando

I used to collect it back in Canada but couldn't find anyone to play with. Let me know if you ever want a game.

@Ten: Scale 1/35! Same as Tamiya tanks. Lotr, sure thing. I was planning to paint some of those old Merp minis next. Perhaps we could use them.

Anyway, IF I sell these and more importantly IF you guys can handle any more models you've got to promise to paint them.
Lovejoy: 4 lotr boxes, Balrog, Minas Tirith Cav and Infantry and dwarf warriors come to 8000 en plus pirates 8 metal minis at 2000 en and the Orc Chariot at 2000 en. Thats 12 000 en in total.

Job: 2000 en per box. They are 20mm light plastic.

Ten: Likewise 2000 en for cart.

Is it me or does anyone else get painters block?
Just sat down after a busy week, looking forward to cracking on and got as far as putting one coat of dry blue on a marine and found myself totally not into it. Bad light maybe or old paint or just tired but it started to feel like the biggest chore ever.
I have so many models to paint and I think I've already painted do many in my life I haven't got the patience to paint anymore right now.

I'm going to try and clear my bench before the years out but maybe I'll refrain from starting any new boxes or armies for now.
Any advice?
