A surprisingly customer-oriented offer...

Quite right my good man! Well...I'm sure good ol' Odysseus slew a Hydra or two...Hey, that rhymed! Hmm...perhaps Odysseus is more of a Witch Elf slayer. He was pretty effective against attractive women who wanted to kill him.
Hehe, very true. :D Odysseus and Herakles, now that would be a DE beat down combo! :D Add Theseus and you'll have Pikey wailing from fear. :D

I think GW landed the way to get our resident DE player to own an army of various colored hydra. I suppose it will be death by hydra soon. Between a multitude of nashing biting heads and another multitude of nashing biting heads and another multitude of nashing biting heads! :?

Surprisingly this doesn't really interest me much. The models are nice (much better than the WoC stuff), but this is the third pointy eared army this year and an army that has a relatively recent book. I would be more excited to see Dwarfs, Brets, or Wood Elves get some attention instead. Seeing an old army get a new shine is always nicer than buffing a new army even more.

I think I can see three Lilith H lookalikes and a plastic avatar of Khaine on in one kit 40k application is ripe in this lot.

As a Wood Elf player, I extend to you Mr. Voss our utmost appreciation for your kind words :D

I guess Dark Elves were ready to be released. As you say, probably not many major changes, just some buffs and complete the model updates from last time, i.e. the witch elves and dark riders. We haven't seen the book yet, but the sheer number of bonuses/special rules is quite eye opening. But I have to stop myself sometimes from claiming foul. Let's have a look:

Wood Elf Wardancer pt cost double of the new darkelf spearmen (dreadspears)
ws 6 bs 4 s 3 t 3 a 2 i 6 w 1 ld 8 - rules: talismanic tattoos (6+ ward), dances of Loec, wardancer weapons (+1 strength if charge), woodland strider (doesn't really mean a great deal under the current rules), Skirmish (some might say a negative under 8th edition rules) and Immune to Psychology.

Witch Elf
stats ? - rules: Frenzy, Poisoned attacks, ASF, Hatred (HE) and Murderess Prowess. They can get further attacks and a ward save from the Cauldron of Blood.

So, yeah, I guess it is easy to cry 'the end is near', but when you look at your own army book you can usually get a good refreshing dose of self-reproof. Usually the biggest problem I can see is the point costs not being consistent, rather than the actual powers of the unit.

On another note, it looks like ASF will be an all elves thing, if and when the Woodsies get their turn.

As someone who owns a High Elf army, I have to say that the new range of DE models is proof once again that GW hates High Elves.
We got Pokemon birdies, flying rowboats and some cross dressing archers.
DE get an entirely new range of minis for practically their entire army book and they look freaking awesome. :(
Surely the rules will rock as well.

Eldar / dark Eldar have the same problem, and Eldar came out second! The new DE range is the bomb, pretty much across the board (sslyth and beastmasters notwithstanding) whereas the poor old crafties got very few new models, and particularly feel the lack of decent guardians and jetbikes. To be fair, the craftworlders got a whole slew of new aspect warriors in the 4th ed codex release, whereas the dark Eldar had been languishing for a very long time before they gt their 5th ed redesign.
