I went on a date with my wife after work and had a killer hamburger at Layer's with a Corona. I highly recommend the place. Then we walked back to the apartment by the castle. At home I was able to paint my Helbrute, always a Dreadnaught in my mind. Also I managed to put decals on my 15mm StuG and seal them.

Today, while not 100%, I am feeling mostly recovered from whatever hellspawned virus has been afflicting me for he past few days. I actually had to take a half sick day on Wednesday there, which is something I have never done before in my current job. Anyhow - feeling much better now.

This evening I was feeling intrepid enough to do a little painting. I hate that transition period between the conversion urge and the painting urge, when you realise you really want to paint but your desk is still covered with a bajillion little bits that need to be filed away lest you lose em forever.

Anyhow, I did a smidgeon of painting, and the colour was: red, and a bit of grey. Oddly, I'm in the mood for dark Eldar, which I haven't been for about a year. I even put "am I evil" by Metallica on the stereo :twisted:

So, incoming: Kaballite Trueborn. The most arrogant and condescending beings in all creation. (Consider: Craftworld Eldar are arrogant as all hell, and consider pretty much all other species beneath them. Dark Eldar consider crafties a bit dull, and frankly a bit beneath them. Trueborn consider all other Dark Eldar to be scummy nuffinks, not fit to lick their pointy bootheels. So, it follows that Trueborn are probably a bit on the obnoxious side...)

MIJ summed it up pretty good. Just mix up a little bit and squoosh it around until it looks right. Worse comes to worse, you'll be able to pry just a blindfold off pretty easy. No harm done.

Another handy tool for making cloth and straps and things is waxed paper. Roll a snake of greenstuff and fold a sheet of waxed paper around it. Use any round handled tool you have to roll it to the thickness desired. Use a sharp, sharp greased blade to trim it to size and the GS will peel off the paper no problem. IF you put the snake down where the paper folds, you can use that to keep one edge straight (ish) even.
Sculpting is fun! I spend a lot more time sculpting and converting these days than painting.

Working like a dog this week, and have to work this Sunday too. As if they (the big eikaiwa firm I work for) don't already get their pound of flesh. I have known about having to do it for a few weeks, but still, not too happy at losing the day off. Still, I'm leaving in 6 weeks.

Bit disappointed with the wrap up to HBOs True Detective..the acting is terrific, compelling and unerving story, script good..but, and it is a big but, the King in Yellow riff (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_King_in_Yellow is basically just a tacked on bit of fluff in the context of the show, unexplored and unexplained to much of an extent. A few promising name-droppings of 'Carcosa' and that was it, could have gotten much deeper. As a Lovecraftian geek (yeah, I know KiY is actually by Chambers, but has been sort of subsumed into the Cthulhu Mythos by Chaosium and co in modern times) I feel shortchanged in terms of the mythology. Lightweights and day trippers!
Also many unanswered questions regarding how deep the conspiracy and cult activity in the show went. Perhaps all will be revealed in season 2.

Carcossa hey? One thing about HBO they like to answer questions in the final season that you've been pondering since the first. Lots of close ups of peoples faces in the interim.

To try and get myself back in "doing stuff" mode, last night I did most of the painting on some terrain that's been sitting around on my painting table for a good few weeks.

A pretty basic job - the buildings are just sprayed, and want a quick white drybrush to add a bit of depth, plus I want to add some scrub here and there to liven it up a bit. Still, progress!

@Jehan & ToD - Nice work guys.

Lately I feel like I haven't made much progress on the hobby front. Sometimes it's a challenge just to think about picking up a brush and on the days when I do feel like it, real life gets in the way. Last night I had about 2 hours where I could have been painting, but instead I spent it sketching out ideas to send to the building company we are thinking to use when we buy our house. Sigh.
