Today I primed some French, did the laundry, got off to a late start on my bicycle, and started riding up to Voss' place. I dropped by Grandmothers place, rehydrated, drank coffee, ate manjyu and chatted, then bicycled the rest of the way to Anpachi. I gave some bitz to Voss, he hosted a game of Battletech. It was a fun and close duel. Then I bicycled over to Badruck's school. He met me halfway. We chatted and I picked up the French models. Then I returned to Voss' place, had dinner together and chatted about life and hobby subjects. Finally I bicycled to Ichinomiya station, packed my bicycle into its bag and took the train to Nagoya.
Now I am setting to painting some Middle Guardsmen.

That picture is one of the most 40K defining ones for me.Lovejoy wrote:I'm still job hunting, but pickings are very slim at the moment. Again, if any of you guys and girls have heard of anything on the work front..yoroshiku ne..
Hobby wise, still finishing off those bloody Space Wolves. The rule seems to be that the last 15% you have to do takes 50% of the time expended thus far. Probably should have gone with Necrons instead.
Those Spevna orks and marines from the original RT box sets make me sigh whistfully. Lots of the orks look familar..and I had a beaky red and yellow marine scheme back in the day, complete with not-very-good chapter name of my own making. Love the Heinz boxes, and the Rogue Trooper wanted sign. I hadn't registered them before!
This nostalgia made me think of an image from the RT book. The setting has evolved in lots of exciting ways, but I liked that the ex-marine merc scummers represented in the image below could exist in the 40k world once upon a time.
In regards to jobs, you just interested in Aichi, or you willing to venture out?

@Spev, willing to venture out. Wouldn't want to do a huge commute, but if needs must 40-60 minutes (depending on travel allowance too) would be alright. You can read or listen to a lot of (audio) books on the train, which isn't too bad at all.
I would like to paint a couple of marines up as these two. They wouldn't be out of place in Dredd.

Re: What did you do today.
No painting for the last couple of days, been busy with work and kind of tired in the evenings. Now I have to get a unit of 20 guys painted from start to finish in a little over a week for my game at Joshin on the 31st.
I did manage to get plenty of reading time in on the train to work though, so this week I read through an Osprey book on William Wallace and the battles between the Scots and the English at Stirling Bridge and Falkirk. Probably a bit more factual than the Mel Gibson account.

Frickin awesome board detail Spevna. I would love to have a board like that or play on one. I have my beakies if you ever want to play the fight for the farm.
Lovejoy, try the Fushimi based companies, there are quite a few business English companies it's worth going freelance if you can build up the part time hours as full.
The evenings are getting slightly cooler, the brushes and paints are calling.

Re: What did you do today.
Thanks Ashmie, I will try to look into that. My successor at the company I left last month just quit because he couldn't hack it - so they have asked me back. I agreed to do part-time 3 days a week with them for now, which should keep us afloat while I look for something different. So the job hunt continues, but the pressure is alleviated a bit. I do miss my co-workers and students, so I'm quite pleased on that level.
Hobby wise, had a rethink about my space wolf long fang and dreadnought armaments in view of their roles, costs and whatnot. More painting and changing most likely.

Re: What did you do today.
I finally got some painting in today. Base coat done on the Samurai unit along with the metallics and the first wash of colour. I also did the base on a D&D mini I'm doing for a friend and got some weathering put on an American M20 scout car.

Re: What did you do today.
Some finished minis and WIP shots.
A D&D mini I painted up for a friend.

A US M20 Scout Car from a Tank Destroyer unit.

A unit of Ashigaru armed with long spears for Hail Caesar. They just need their bases doing.

Some more models to add to my army's Hatamoto unit.

A unit of Samurai (with Ashigaru weapon bearers to fill the second rank) that I have just started.

A Tamiya Panzer IV-H I just finished building.

And a couple of Malifaux minis I am working on when I get a minute.

Started gluing together some of my birthday pressies

They are Westwind Picts, but I'll be using them as Scots for Saga.
