Frankly, if I do that, I may as well go all out and mount a whole unit of gobbos on big bases and count 'em as black orcs - i.e., to my mind, it defeats the purpose of a themed army. When it comes down to it, I'm afraid I just don't have the model selection (or inclination) to make my 3 armies anything other than more-or-less carbon copies of one another - if that's not going to jibe with the campaign, I'll just shrug my shoulders and keep on playing regular games.

And (this being the net, I feel I should say) I say that with zero snark! :) I know full well that my extremely-narrowly-themed army is a real edge case, and can't really expect people to bend over backwards to accommodate it in a campaign-rules situation - but I do enjoy using it as it is (it's a lot of fun and, so far, surprisingly effective*), so I'm not really prepared to break my theme for the sake of a campaign.

*By which I mean, it is occasionally not-ineffective, which is surprising.

I totally get what you are talking about... I guess the best way to deal with tods army is to let him play what he likes. That goes for every one. 40% core is just fine. After that if you choose to gimp yourself then so be it. But one should not complain about losing games if they bring a list that has a huge weakness built in to it.

In honor of TODs decision I am going to run an all Orc list. I hear by banish all night goblins to his ranks. And even though my favorite unit is Git-tila the hunter. I will not include goblins in my army pure ONI orcs. Trolls and the like will be allowed but no more gobos.

For those that know anything about O&G this is almost as big of a gimping as TODs list. Worst of all I need more models now...

But wood elf players now you know you are won't the only armies that at at a disadvantage now.

Take a count as Orc lord Put a gobo on a big base and you are good to go.

I said it was fine. ..ahem. aa..ha.ha.haha

@Tod: I look forward to seeing your character entries anyway. Your army is a theme unto itself so, ticks all the boxes in my book. cheers!

EDIT: please note that there is no longer any limitations on what magic items you can take, so your warbosses can be unique in what bling they can carry around.

Once I finish my moving, I'll do a rat count and see what I come up with. I've got the three generals but whether or not I have the right points for one army let alone three different themed ones is a mystery right now.

@badruk: Hold it boss, dont fall on your sword just yet. You NEED those night goblins to reach core competency. Go with what you had planned (minus gittila, because he is a special character) and just have fun with it....please.

@ten and voss: sounds good! looking forward to seeing some cool theme armies.

So, what is the objective of the campaign? To hold territories or collect subsistence?

Hmm, my Skaven are pretty much set at 2000 points with only a couple of variant rare choices with my current models. Doing different themes might be tricky, unless I can use Clanrats with spears as Stormvermin with Halberds, my armies will look identical apart from the Lord.

I'm now debating. I only need a bit more to get up to 40% core - the question is whether to do that the friendly way, by bumping up my large goblin regiments even larger, or the unfriendly way, by including ridiculous numbers of Fanatics? (The decision will probably be made by the fact that I have lots and lots of goblin minis lying around, but more Fanatics would require some not-insignificant monetary expenditure, heh.)

(I also just ordered a second Very Silly Mangler Squig Proxy (TM). Woo!)

@Job: collecting subsistence through taking and holding territory. However the main objective of the campaign is to have fun. still ironing out those mechanics, so more one that later!

@prim: having a theme to the army is certainly encouraged, but optional. Varying up the rare and special choices here in there is probably what most people can aim to do.

@ badruk: so let it be written, so let it be done.

@Tod: Fanatics!
