What did you do today.

A nice mini, but this evening's painting just wasn't playing ball. I haven't put brush to mini properly for almost 2 months, and I'm struggling with the face.

Seriously, you may not be happy with it, but it's still head and shoulders above my best.

Just feel it's a bit scrappy. Looks like she put on too much makeup in the morning or summat. I'll work on it later. Despite having a typhoon day today, I did nowt, due to having an orrible cold of orribleness. Fully lurgied up all day, and any attempts to focus on anything led to immediate reprisal in the form of watery eyes and pounding headache. Feeling marginally better now, which is good, seeing as how I have work in the morning...

The tip of the nose and around the jawline are too white, to me. The easiest way to fix that might be to highlight the rest of the face to the sale level then tone it back with some glazes?

If it's for Dredd, too much make up is good. Mega City One is hardly renowned for it's fashion sense after all. 'Over the top' fits the aesthetic far better than being subtle about things. Well, that's my two cents anyway.

Normally I hate painting black, but this was pretty painless. Next up, his dad.

@agp re whiteface - agreed. I'll have a go with some equalising of highlights. Glazes are also a good idea. Hadn't thought of that, but will give em a shotty.

Re: skywalker - that's a bloody nice piece of work. Nice mini, with a nice pj, too. Colour me impressed - your Star Wars stuff no doubt looks the business on the tabletop.

Today's progress:
A black and white pic to check contrast (currently not looking so hot on that front, but time will tell)


Same in colour (um, what colour there is, anyway. The fatigues are actually slightly purplish grey, and will have an urban camo scheme on them in time.)


And a close up on the new face. She seems to have caught the sun since her last appearance, which wasn't my intent, but hey ho, she's not a goth anymore. There ya go...
