This evening I started on another batch of Saxons. Still so many to do before the Fulford game. :D

I undercoated some stuff in Citadel's red base color, and simultaneously made it look like my fingers were covered in gore.

(Also, starting on my Khorne warband for Shadespire reminded me that I really really don't like painting skin - troublesome when you have 5 half-naked cannibalistic nutters with axes to paint up.)

Being covered in gore seems pretty suitable when painting Khornate warriors. :D At least you only have 5 of them to do, so you don't have much skin to paint.

That's the beauty of skirmish games, yeah. :D

I did a bit more work on the MD, mostly on the engine block. I could use some advice, actually. Do y'all reckon I should call it done, or does it need a bit more colour/metal variance/points of interest? Basically, does it look ok or is there still too much metal? I'm kind of looking at the back of it and wondering if I should do hazard stripes on the piston heads or something.

I also made a start on the teef on the front plate:

I'd say that looks very nice, especially if some more color is going on later (I'd want the tubing to be a bit more vibrant, and the bone color of the teeth is a bit close to the yellowish metal of the pipes they're stuck on). Rather than hazard stripes or such, I'd try to work in some bluer metal tones for contrast with all the golds and brasses.

Azzard Strypes? On sumfink Orky? Geddouda ere ya cowardly grot! Reel boyz don' wurry about 'elf an' safety!

Seriously though, it looks pretty good as is. There are some little triangles of flat metal wedged under the rim of one of the exhaust pipes that you could apply a bit of colour to, to break up the metallics for example, but I think it's looking great already.

both good ideas, which I have duly put into practice. Many thanks :)

So, here's how it looks now:

and

The blue on the pipes is much more noticeable irl. Actually, that's true of all teh colour variation. My phone seems to like flattening contrast.

Also, I finished up the chest plate/teefy bit

Looks awesome MiJ! That is some nice blending there sir. :)

I have been putting a few bits of flock/shrubbery my Bolt Action British 49th West Riding lads and then they will be done. After that, the Armoured cars. :)
