7TV 2: War gaming in the world of cult TV

Post by ashmie » Sat Jul 04, 2015 12:56 am

I think I've found a skirmish game I'd like to try. Not so much for the game but the models. Cult TV stars for reasonable prices. Thinking of putting some Simian Minions together. Might put a few factions together if anyone wants to pick up the game sometime. It's another skirmish game where any minis can be used.

I've just ordered two factions. One group of heroes and one of villains. I'm going to do a Planet of the Apes project. I have the simian minions fronted by Talos and an evil mastermind Vs the scientists and astronauts working with some temporal time travelers.

Setting: Planet of the Apes

Villains

HQ Doctor Ulysses Argo is a twisted genius, the epitome of the mad scientist who plans to enslave the world with his doomsday devices and iron legions of robots.
Talos is Dr Ulysses Argo’s most fearsome creation. Believed to have once been a man, this bronze giant has seen many forms over the years, rebuilt and modified after each defeat, but the name and trail of destruction he leaves remain the same.

Troops
Simian Minions straight from the labs of mad geneticist Professor Andros.

Elite
Mounted Simian Minions

Heroes

HQ: Temporal Travellers
These three trusty companions often find themselves facing temporal terrors. Ms Freeman is a liberated young medic from the near future; Ms Temple holds down a job in an office, where she is known her red hair, as well as her fiery temperament; and Group Captain Jim is a WW2 pilot flung into the future.

Troops
The Albion Rocket Consortium (ARC) rely on adventurous and daring men and women to staff their moonbase.

The Albion Rocket Corporation comprises Britain’s greatest scientists and adventurers. Their daring exploits have seen the exploration of space made a reality.

Elite
Ready to work on science in the game of good, this trio of lab-coated clever clogs use their mental prowess to create all manner of technological gadgets to utilise. Our trio comprises one pointing a gizmo, one with a beaker and one with a clipboard.

Can't wait to paint and play these. I'll prepare two sides and terrain so it can be a pick up and play game. Needed a new project to boost my interest.

Great stuff. A couple of us have mentioned it before as a game we want to look more closely at, plus I've got some Kiss Kiss Bang Bang (spy) stuff that would fit the genre.

I actually bought the first edition of the rules, but never got much done about playing a game.

Oh man. Patrick McNee just passed away. An homage is in order.

I'll put two factions together for a Planet of the Apes scenario but if you guys have minis please by all means get involved and use them. Anything is OK, heroes or villains basically.

Sad to hear about Patrick McKnee.
