Today I became a dad! I think that warrants an exclamation mark.
A bit early, the baby was expected on the 13th Feb, but all is well. In the early hours of the morning just after midnight I got a text from my wife to say that it looked like things were moving. I got to the hospital as early as I could today.
I needn't have rushed. At 8pm Louis James Crook was finally ready to appear, a good 20 hours after the initial twinges.
I'm glad us blokes don't have to go through that, or indeed do much of anything, other that wait around reading half a volume of song of ice and fire or something, which is what I did. I am knackered now, holed up with the in-laws :o I'll visit again tomorrow.

I know that in Japan middle names aren't used, but Louis James is what he will have on his British passport.
His Japanese name will be Rui, which is why he'll also be Louis.

as for painty stuff, today I spent an inordinate amount of time organising my corsairs for their initial undercoats. I like to get the whole army undercoated in one batch when I'm working to a deadline, and that means getting em all stuck down to a piece of wood/carboard/whatever flat portable surface is lying around my hobby room, and taking em out for spraying. I did the infantry the other day, but today I got all the (resin) bases stuck down, disassembled the jetbikes for painting, and finished building the Phoenix's base (plus one other skimmer base I had started a while back). Oh, and I had forgotten how much I hate eldar vehicle weapons. It does my nut in. Most eldar vehicles have twin weapons. There are 5 potential guns (6 for hornets) so that mean 10 (or 12) guns that need cleaning, drilling out, magnetising and painting for ONE tank. So bloody time consuming, and not much alternative that I can think of. grrrrr

Congrats mate :)

I hope your wife and son are both well, and that they'll be home with you soon.

Thanks fellers!
MiJ, I took your advice about taking a book along, grateful that I did, top tip.. The name will be kanji for the Japanese version, although my wife has that in hand. I know there are going to be two characters, but that's it.
I'll just have to make sure he can pronounce those L's so that he can say the Louis version of his name!
I have a pic from yesterday but you really can't see anything much. I'll try to get another today. But if you google 'baby', that's what he looks like (Babies are a bit generic at that age aren't they!).

Congrabulations! Welcome to the club, as they say.

Edit: I painted backpacks, trousers, bedrolls and rifles on 48 very tiny infantrymen. Almost done!

Thanks everyone for the congratulations, spent today at the hospital again. I have to get back to Nagoya tomorrow and may not see the baby for a few weeks, so I'm trying to spent what time I can with wife and baby.
Here's a pic as requested - I don't want to turn this into a baby thread, so I'll keep postings on the topic to a minimum after this one, promise..
