I haven't posted any painting updates here for a while, largely because I haven't been doing much painting. My hobby mojo has been lacking recently.
However, yesterday I hauled some marines out of my stash and tried out a few different paint schemes on them. Yes, Space Marines. Before any conclusions are jumped to, I still have
no interest in actually playing 40K. My main goal was just to try out some different ways of speed painting an army for 40K. I've never enjoyed highlighting the edges on armour, and my previous methods of doing marines were all quite laborious. I also want to move away from relying on GW paints for the primary colours as they invariably change their lineup just as I run out. So I have been working on a simple Basecoat>Wash>Drybrush pattern using Vallejo that will do all of the armour in one go and look good in the process. I think I have found a set of colours which I like, so I'm going to try a batch of marines this evening and see how I get on. I don't know what I'm going to do with them once they are done, since I haven't seen or heard much about 8th edition that appeals to me. Maybe try to mod Bolt Action for small infantry games? I dunno.
