I must admit, I have a hard time with Kanji too.me_in_japan wrote:Hooray! Today my copy of the Death Guard codex arrived, about 5 weeks after my dad posted it. According to the stickers on the package, it had been misshipped to Vancouver, BC, Canada.
Because, obviously, it's easy to confuse Vancouver, BC, Canada, with 津市、三重県、日本Gawd bless 'er Maj's Postal Service.
What did you do today.

I haven't posted here in awhile, but progress has been slow. Particularly as every time I go to put my daughter to sleep at 9 or 10 pm, I end up falling asleep.
That aside, while chatting in the afternoon with my Canadian friend over Google chat, I finished constructing one of two Kastelan robots.

I've been quite productive recently. Finished up a Terminator squad of Lamenters, to go with my scout squad. Also started on a razorback and remember why i hate painting big vehicles (I should learn to use an airbrush...)

Also finished 12 Ungors armed with spear and shield. That's everything for my Dragon Rampant Beastman army done! Just waiting for the weekend to get some clearcoat on them.

Re: What did you do today.
Last night I continued work on my wonderfully chunky Aggressors, and also kitbashed together an apothecary from some Primaris bits I had lying about, on account of one would be useful but there's no way I'm paying 5200 yen for it.

The Narthecium / medpack is pretty terrible, but I reckon he'll look fine painted up and on the table.

@TheOtherDave: Love it! You just HAVE to paint that medipack in old brown leather, with his initials in gold on the side!!

Yeah, I dipped into that well (plus an ammo box from some 28mm Germans) - I actually have a surprisingly spare bits box after so long away from 28mm science fiction.me_in_japan wrote:Is that space station bits I spy? Re: What did you do today.
I haven't posted any painting updates here for a while, largely because I haven't been doing much painting. My hobby mojo has been lacking recently.
However, yesterday I hauled some marines out of my stash and tried out a few different paint schemes on them. Yes, Space Marines. Before any conclusions are jumped to, I still have no interest in actually playing 40K. My main goal was just to try out some different ways of speed painting an army for 40K. I've never enjoyed highlighting the edges on armour, and my previous methods of doing marines were all quite laborious. I also want to move away from relying on GW paints for the primary colours as they invariably change their lineup just as I run out. So I have been working on a simple Basecoat>Wash>Drybrush pattern using Vallejo that will do all of the armour in one go and look good in the process. I think I have found a set of colours which I like, so I'm going to try a batch of marines this evening and see how I get on. I don't know what I'm going to do with them once they are done, since I haven't seen or heard much about 8th edition that appeals to me. Maybe try to mod Bolt Action for small infantry games? I dunno.
