@ToD Contrast seems to work really well with Deathguard, I don't think contrast gets any better than that.

@Jye The headswap fits pretty decently. He looks like an extremely upset warrior priest which pretty much fits.

On the other hand instead of painting more models and getting ready for 9th to drop I've been making more terrain so I hope you guys aren't tired of seeing more pictures of boring grey terrain.

This piece started with me wanting to draw a hexagon (at 1am...) using a compass and turned into this trench-ish fortification.
Since its hard to make pieces with the smooth curves and sleek designs that Tau architecture is known for, I decided instead to go with the story that this is on a captured imperial world and is more likely being used by Gue'vesa troops than actual Tau troops.

Another thing I wanted to try with this piece was the Sept logo which I think turned out pretty decently. The outlines would usually be white and the logo would be black but since its terrain I decided to take some artistic liberty. I also thought about painting the logo but I though it might stand out too much and just painted it grey to match the rest of the piece.
I might stencil in some Tau writing on the outside to break up the grey but other than that I don't think I want to spend too much more time on it.

@Karantu, pretty sweet! There's a reason I always stick to right angles when I make terrain - nice work!

I forgot to take a pic of my finished Ambull, so here it is:

The carapace turned out darker than I wanted, but overall it's fine I think!

@Karantu - That's some nice looking terrain.

@ToD - The dark carapace works, it gives the Ambull quite a menacing look.

I finished off some more Bolt Action minis.

Their robes (called Djellaba) were as much fun to paint as you can imagine.

Heh i have a bunch of those guys and their robes are probably why they're still sitting undercoated!

I've been painting some savage orks for Dragon Rampant (or something similar) as well as slowly progressing on my WW1 ANZAC Aussies for Blood and Glory once things settle down here in 'Murica.

They are a little intimidating.
Savage Orcs sound a lot more manageable.

I finally finished up my Cadre Fireblade. I had been putting him off since I'm not very used to painting characters but I think I did a decent job. I actually did more than one highlight and I really like how the cape turned out. The face on the other hand... I avoid painting faces/skin for a reason...

@Prim - for all that I'm sure the djellabas were a pain to do, they look really good.

@Karantu - very nice! I like that dark orange.

I spent the past day or two assembling and prepping the space marine heroes 3 malignant plaguecaster, plus (since I needed something else to prime up in gunmetal) my last two warhounds, which I think I'll use to start up a Legio Mortis traitor force. The rainy season isn't the *best* time to prime stuff, so it may be a bit before I really get started, which means I can head up to Yodobashi tomorrow and get some 3mm masking tape for those striped panels Mortis loves so much, plus some bits and bobs to try some heavy rust and chipping effects for that "mid-Heresy, just beginning to slide to Nurgle" look.
