@Prim,

Yes, that`s Cygnar; we`re supposed to be shooty, but are guns are all POW 10 or 12 and not much of a threat to multi-wound infantry. That`s why Boomhowler & Co make it into a lot of Cygnar lists. I usually have to evade (my usual Menoth opponent call is "running away") brickish infantry (like ManOWars, Bastions, Gatormen) and find an alternate way to win the scenario or go for a quick caster kill. Heavy armor also gives Cygnar trouble. Actually, a lot of things seem to give my Cygnar trouble. :?

Trollbloods, on the other hand, have probably the best overall infantry in the game - multiwound or otherwise. Except Pygs, all Troolblood infantry is med-based, so they`re great at clogging up the middle of the battlefield. This, combined with their Tough-ness, allows them to grind out victories over their more fragile foes. They are slooooooowwwww, however....and Trollbloods don`t have many really dominant Warlocks.

Sorry again, this really should be in a different thread.

Back to Colassals...how about some unadulterated speculation on what each one will be able to do? I`ll speculate on the swan`s Stormwall. It looks like he has some sort of lightning coils on his back (kind of Thunderheadish) and his forearms look like they could project some kind of electrical weapon. In the video, there was also a second piece that looked like a small storm tower on a second, separate base. Many have speculated that he will passively act as another Storm caller and/or enhance their abilities. I also predict he will have disruption on his fists (continuing the tradition of Cygnar being uselss against warbeasts since they can`t be disrupted). The Stormwall also has two chain guns visible. They could provide strafe like the Sentinal or maybe covering fire like the Cyclone...but I`m betting on the former. As for the guns, I`m predicting more range but less POW than the Conquest...perhaps it will be the same as the heavy barrel on the Defender. I`m also really curious about the SPD of the Stromwall (and all Colassals). They have huge bases, so they can trample a wide area if they can also move pretty far. Lastly, Cygnar has a lot of squishy casters, so I`m hoping that there is no way to slam Colossals (except maybe by another colossal)...then we can hide behind those huge 120mm bases. But this may be a double edged sword as I often pull off early assassinations when people can`t screen their caster properly (hey, that`s one thing we CAN do well in Cygnar).

Trollblood Colossal must be epic Mulg. I don`t care if this means you can only field one of them. Epic Mulg would be too...well, epic! He could upgrade his rune club to just and uprooted tree and give him 4" reach like the mage hunter assassin. And of course, he needs snacking....when he eats constructs!

Stormwall is basically spoiled on PP`s forum. It looks great! As expected, it can be taken down as easily (or more easily than two Cygnar heavies), but it brings a lot of firepower! Also, the STR 17 is going to be fun! With it, you can really throw stuff far...and the collateral damage will be very scary for casters and key solos. Of course, we will need to try it out on the battlefield to see how it actually does, but with my experience and the info revealed about the Stormwall, I`d have to give PP an A++ for design. I can`t wait to see what the other faction`s colossals will be like.

Hey Danguinius,

Those colossals and a bit out of my league for a little while as I am just about to get into Warmachine. As Prim says, there aren't many Cygnar around the Nagoya area, so I thought I would give them ago. I was prefering the look of the Protectorate, but there seems to be a lot of them around.

Without giving away what to field (I like to discover tactics instead of copying off what is written in forums) in your humble opinion, is Cygnar a solid army or something that requires a less experienced opponent and or some lucky rolls to win with?

*MiJ raises hand*

'scuse me, if I may chip in my tuppence worth.

Cygnar are fine and dandy. In fact, pretty much any faction in warmahordes is fine and dandy. The game is balanced like a tightrope walker juggling chainsaws with a small dog sitting on her head.

That balanced.

I mean, dont get me wrong - the factions are different and all, it's just that you could pretty much pick up any faction and have the same chance of winning.

Now, different warcasters - that's where it gets interesting. Some are wowza killy, some are very eldar-farseerish, and some, well, some just kinda suck. But when you win with them you get to go "nyarnyarnyar, I beat you with one of the sucky ones!" :D

Anyway, aye - Cygnar are good.

and don't worry about the colossals - I don't see myself getting one, either, altho that trollblood one does look pretty cool. I believe that even if one's opponent has a colossal and you dont, there's every likelyhood you can still win the game, no more or less so than if he didnt have a colossal. They aint like super heavy tanks in 40k or somesuch.

PS - cygnar love their blue. Are you sure that's a road you want to walk down, after doing all those Tzeentch marines?

That is one really skilled tightrope juggler.

THAT is the drawback for me. I WANT TO PAINT SOMETHING NOT BLUE!!!!!!

But I also want something most chaps don't have around here. So I was thinking a mostly *other* colour scheme with a touch of blue here and there to say, "Don't shoot I'm on your side! But **sshhhh** don't tell dem ova there". Which seems to leave beige, green, purple, maybe white, maybe black, yellow (yuck) or orange... I reckon black and white could be a goer.

I dont know the cygnar minis well enough, really, but you could maybe go for ones with cloaks and suchlike, to go for a more brownish/scouty feel? Or, you could do em blue then weather the crap out of them?

Oh, really? That's rather intriguing. And which faction shall have the honor of representing the Spev on the tabletop, I wonder... Retribution of Scyrah, p'raps? :D

Or maybe not... :?

The Spevna obtained the Menoth battle box for the rather reasonable sum of 3000 yen including shipping.

You don't have to go with the standard colors. i kno several players that go with something else (pink khador being the one that sticks out the most in my mind). For my ret I am getting rid of the white and going purple and gold so feel free to choose the color scheme you prefer.

And Spev, how come I just knew you would go Menoth
