Got is a game with my Tau against the New Dark eldar...

the Dark Eldar managed to pull a draw but really I should have won... game ended on turn 5 the same turn my Hammerhead came out of reserves. all and all I have to say Dark Eldar are not that good... they die in droves when you shoot them... and they hit like school girls in combat...

Not all of them have power weapons though.

@Badruck - Did your opponent give out any pain tokens to his units? His jetbikes should have had one after killing the drones.

all of the ones with that statline do.

but anyway, how come he couldnt kill your chaps in H2H? I'd have thought even kabalites would take FW apart in CC? Wyches should really be able to deal with Kroot, too, altho by choice Id splinter rifle the crap outta them first, then charge in, but thats maybe overkill...

Well, since no model has that statline, I can only assume you mean the I5 Incubi, which are not only hideously expensive points wise, but also financially. They're not really the best example to hold up out of the book because people dont field an army of them. Its like saying all marines are amazing in combat because they can have S8 thunder hammers, 2+ armour and 3++ storm shields.
The army I saw was 1 small squad of 5 Incubi with an Archon in a raider, 1 wych squad in a raider, 2 squads of warriors, 10 hellions and 5 jetbikes along with 2 Talos.
I only saw a couple of turns but from what I watched:
The DE player should have wiped out Badruck's first mob of kroot and got a pain token for either his wyches or Incubi, but instead got greedy and declared a charge with his Incubi that was miles out. Badruck then got lucky and rolled high for his Ini test after the kroot were broken by the wyches, thus denying them Feel No Pain.
The DE player wiped out a squad of drones with his bikes in combat, which again should have netted them a token. I dont think he put one down, though I could be wrong. The bikes then charged some battlesuits and got beaten.
The DE player rolled the worst possible result for his combat drugs (3d6 take the highest for run moves). If he had rolled 3-6 he would have been in a much better position.

He got his PFP but I put enough hits on them and he missed when he charged and when he shot before he charged.. as for the incubi they hit hard but I was able to avoid combat with them they may have good armor but there were only like 10 of them shoot then with enough S4 and they die no matter what my AP is. put S5 on them and they die even faster... I will be making a few changes to my list but I am mostly happy with my list... I am keen to see what Dark Eldar can do in the hands of some one with a bit more Exp.

fair do's - Incubi are only I5. Sorry - I've been looking at a lot of Wych/hellion/biker stuff recently, miniature-wise, and when I do that, I look at stats too. didnt realise that DE werent base I6. Probly just as well, really...

anyway, yes, sure, incubi are 22 pts each, but heck, swooping hawks are 21 points each for being way, way worse. Warp spiders are 22 pts each, as are guardian jetbikes. 22pts aint so much in the world of eldar...

as for the DE army badruck was up against, it seems like a reasonable list. I reckon they needed more transports, though, as nekkid DE are even more fragile than nekkid aspect warriors. Transports, all the way, and only walk when it gets blown up. (well, with a 5+sv, the minority will walk. the rest will just die, orribly...)

btw, the more i look at beasts and beastmasters, the more I realise that they are the missing link to making a DE army work. Well, either them or grotestques. Its vexing, cos I wanted to keep my army kabal-themed, but hey ho, I have lots of witchy types, I spose the beasts are arena things, really. All part of the big friendly wych coven family, I guess...

Thats more to do with Eldar being overpriced rather than anything else.

Anyway, I dont think you NEED beasts in the army to make it work. They can be useful, but they dont get a transport, so if you want to use them you'd have to be able to work around that.

although, interestingly, grotesques do get transports. Can you imagine 5 of those bad boys piling out at a unit of guardsmen?

messy...
