done/airbrushed base colour/not done.

infantry: 21/26/25
vehicles: 0/5/0
HQ:0/0/3

finished the wyches today, fully based n everything. I also laid down the base colours for the incubi's raider, which is a different colour to the other ones (I figure they aint kabal, so they bring their own transport.)
Next up: raider.

bleurgh. 3:25 am. I gotta sleep more...

I'm also concerned that my Baron Sathonyx is currently bald as a coot. In the pic he has big hair flailing all over the place, but as I mentioned when I did my avatar many moons ago, I hate sculpting hair. Can he not just be bald?

Got the flamers glued together finally and started painting. Next up is the fiends and other models when they get here. Already the nightmares have begun of opening my army box only to find all the models in pieces. :?

The bloody baron is finally assembled and sculpted! Yussssss!

Man, that dude's been annoying me. Stupid big haired, wavy cloak garbed pointy eared git :x He's only a blooming squad upgrade, too. Wouldnt be worth all the trouble he's been if it werent for the fact that:

a) he lets you count hellions as troops

and

b) I have a cool idea for a nice pattern on his cloak.

now - to the paint-mobile, batman!

I need to get working or I will have to play. An army that is already done.

almost finished a raider, but have decided that all those swooshies are too bling. Buuuuuuut, without them, theres no green. Only red/black and gold. What to do, what to do? Has anyone else painted a raider yet? Where the heck can you put incidental colour except on the sail?

also been a bit wrapped up painting the baron's cloak. It started maori, then went all celtic on me, and now I find myself with acres of knotwork to paint.

buggrit :( and here's me with about 50 other minis still to do :(

I haven't seen the exact shades you're using, but why not try making the swooshies closer in shade to the background they're on. E.g. rather than bright green on a black background, use a dark green. That way you still get swooshies, but they aren't as bling.

As for the Baron, I'm sure a celtic cloak would be very cool, but are the rest of your mini's going to have a celtic feel to them? Maybe some swooshies on his cloak would fit in with the rest of the army more?

What Prim said
all good points. The raider is, unfortunately, black-going-to-red pretty much all over, so any green or greenish colour sticks out like a sore thumb. In moderation that would be fine, but the two swooshies i did before are way to big, i reckon, so now my quandry is: do I try and get rid of them? this is more problematic than you might think, as the rest of the raider has been done, and since the base colours for the hull were all airbrushed on, that means to re-do the hull (to remove the swooshies) will require huuuuge amounts of masking, and even then runs the risk of not matching the existing hull shades.

drat it all :(

as for the celtic cloak - i had in now way intended for it to be celtic. I started with blade shapes with a bit of a maori influence, then decided that they were too large, so i detailed them with some cross threads. this then resulted in a knotwork design. Its taken about an hour anda half to do 2 blade shapes (with knotwork) and the cloak has about 6 of em. I think I might just paint over the two i already did and leave em as overlarge blades...
