Overcrowding at Joshin

The crux of my post was to suggest that those of us who want to game twice a month take it upon themselves to do so. This would be independent of the regular nagoya event, so it need not concern our friends the japanese players....and this is only suggestion, so please don't crucify me.

For the record (if anyone is keeping track of Dave's Opinion in their little notebooks ) I think this is a great idea. I'm just also suspicious that it won't do much of anything to relieve the crowding problem at Joshin.

As for balance and numbers.. Its been said that the joshin event sometimes has 14 people and sometimes it has only 3. What do they do when its the case where only 3 people turn up? Aren't the japanese players used to fluctuating numbers by now?

This thought has also been tickling in the back of my mind, although I also don't have a clear memory of any super-low turnouts since last summer or so. Still, it can't really be denied that the Joshin group's membership has increased (at least in part due to this website), which means that fluctuations towards the low end are increasingly unlikely even if a lot of folks don't come every single month.

As for the area around the current Joshin you are right there are options but do they fit price wise I think the consciences has been they are a bit over priced.

Joshin is 5000 yen for 4 tables from 10 until 6.
There is a place on the next block which (and I'm relying on my poor Japanese here) has at least 7 tables and is open from 9 until 9 for 8000 yen. So thats a 75% increase in space and a 50% increase in gaming time with a 0% increase in travel time for a 60% increase in room hire price (which will be paid back by those attending that day at the same price they currently pay for Joshin hopefully). So far the only comments on price were MtP talking about the potential costs of hiring a room for 2 days a month and you, Badruck, complaining about how expensive the really expensive room we had 4 years ago was. There has been no concensus on prices at all.

I really think it is a bit silly that the Mie guys should be expected to travel to Nagoya every month to game if there is a perfectly good place to game that is closer and supports a fledgling group

Nobody should be expected to do anything. People can choose to come to Nagoya or if they run their own events, people from Nagoya will go to Mie (Ash and DL have both done this succesfully in the past) and yes, having played in Yokkaichi, I would recommend players to go along to that as well if they can.
The group in Yokkaichi are nice guys and they do play 40k a lot. As Badruck mentioned, they are thinking of getting into WFB. If the owner is willing to get a bigger room if needed then that is great.

However, as has been said a dozen times in this thread: The current space we have in Nagoya is not big enough for all the people wanting to use it. Regardless of whether Mie or Gifu players come or not, the room is too small either way.

Anyway, this thread has run its course. We have some options. We need to sit down and discuss them with the Japanese players and come to some sort of agreement about what to do. I'm locking this thread, so if anyone has more info about rooms that we can hire, please PM me. In the meantime, if anyone is running events in Gifu, Mie, Aichi or anywhere else, please promote them in the game finder area.
