Utterly unsurprising, but I can't find it in me to actually get upset about it.

Something tells me they won't be recasting any Epic models, though, so I probably ought to order those Eldar superheavies I've been on the fence about all quick-like.

I am looking for the "I told you so" emoticon" but I can't find it.

As for the comment I made about the hobby being too big, I stand by it 100%. Sure it is great that players are spread far and wide, but the majority of us got into the hobby when it was a mere fraction of the size it is now. When we got into the hobby it was a games company run by gamers, for gamers. They looked after us and we were happy to buy products from blokes that enjoyed the same hobby as we did.

The size of the company has no relation to my being involved in the hobby. I think that is true for the majority of people on this site.

Somewhere down the line, as the company expanded, they went from a bunch of gamers trying to make a living to a bunch of executives trying to make a profit and keep shareholders happy. That was when, in my eyes, GW as I knew it died.

This, though... Maelstrom (and probably others) can no longer sell to us as of June 1.

I shall get on that.

Ok folks. Here is the OFFICIAL NEWS from GW.
GAMES WORKSHOP wrote:Hello,
We here at Games Workshop are dedicated to providing you with the best games and the highest quality models. To that end we would like to recommend to all of our players the fine game of Warmachine. It's a great little game. The models may look a bit chunky compared to our own, but they are every bit our equal in quality and now thanks to our patented customer-screwing technology, they're cheaper than ours.
In our offices recently we've been playing lots of Malifaux. It may seem a little hard to follow the rules, but once you get the hang of it you'll be sorted. And the best point, for only about 20 pounds you can get into the game. Aces.
At this stage we'd also like to point our loyal followers towards Spartan Games range of products. Those little ships may seem kind of strange at first (no power armour LOL), but they're cheap as chips.
Anyway, thats all from us here at Games Workshop.
Happy Gaming.
Seriously though, the trade embargo IS in place. Check out the special offers page in the Introductions area for more details, but Maelstrom just posted this:
Hi there, It's a sad day for us here at Maelstrom Games (http://www.maelstromgames.co.uk) for we have the unpleasant task of informing all of our Rest of the World customers that Games Workshop will no longer allow us to sell their products to you - but here's an 18% off UK RRP voucher to soften the blow! GW NO LONGER ALLOWING US TO SELL TO ROW CUSTOMERS--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Games Workshop's new Terms and Conditions, which come into force on the 31st of May 2011 restrict the sale - among other things - of all of their products to the European Union, although there are a couple of countries (such as Norway and Switzerland) that are geographically within Europe but not in the EU that we can still sell to. The full list of countries that we can sell GW products to is as follows: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, Estonia, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, United Kingdom Obviously this means that all of our faithful Games Workshop customers from the Anglosphere - Australia, Canada, New Zealand and the United States - as well as those from Brazil, Chile, Peru, Russia, Japan and South Korea (apologies for those countries I have missed out) will now miss out on our superb service and cheap prices, but I'm afraid the terms and conditions of our contract with Games Workshop mean that we have to say goodbye. But it's a cracking goodbye! From today until midnight (GMT) on Monday the 30th of May all of our customers will be able to use a 18% off UK RRP discount voucher code on Games Workshop products only, so you stock up on all of those items you'll need for your Warhammer, Warhammer 40,000 or Lord of the Rings armies - and of course all your paints and brushes!

With the proximity of these two quotes, we can now be assured that GW wants us to play some other companies' game.

Just means I'll be converting plastics to make what ever I need. And suddenly a DKoK army is looking feasible. hmmmm.........

Awww who am I kidding. The no international was one thing. Turning things to resin another. But a price hike this big is too much. I've hit my limits as well. What armies I have, that is as far as I will go. I'll build slowly and as cheaply as possible.

So far, we haven't heard any "official" word from GW regarding the price hike, so maybe giftsand geeks might have got it wrong. Wishful thinking maybe.

If it turns out that it really is the end of the world worst case scenario, then Australians will come out on top as the most ripped off of the ripped off. Already the cost of a regiment of 20 elite infantry models will be ....$140 AUS. You'd really have to have no soul to be able to sell that to some one with a wink a smile. SEVEN HELLS One hundred and forty! Thats so ridiculous, its almost funny.

Keep this up GW and warhammer will ruin lives more than chronic gambling.

there are heaps of good online shops but they either do not sell overseas or the shipping cost is too high...
