Actually, it is a good time to take a look at other companies.. For the first time ever I just had a look on the PP homepage and the thought of being able to play with only a few models is very tempting.. The starter box of warmahordes is only 4 models compared to GW's 20+ .. Maybe moving over to skirmish sized games is the way to go, and Warmahordes seems to have a big player base already, with a lot of people in this gaming group playing it.

thats the thing I would like to see how many models I will need to get started with HordesMachine I never though it would come to this Thanks GW you really helped make a hard decision easy. after having a quick look and the game and seeing that the models and rule books are quite a bit more expensive I can only guess that it is going to be a smaller model count.

Does this all mean that the current metal range will get a resculpt with new designs in resin or they will simply be cast using resin in the same moulds as the metal ones not changing the design?

IF.. GW resculpt the original models and actually manage to improve the model that much then for me that could justify a price raise, but then they would have to do a very good job.. That would have to be a real finecast. Anyway before doing anything drastic I will stand back and see what happens for a while.. No matter what happen to the models, price etc. For me 40k will always be the game with the best fiction out there.. that was what got me into the hobby from the start anyway.

GW has really gone to great lengths to piss off their customers.....again........ but they always seem to manage to get away with it. Probably will this time too.

Well, with us Boyz that is and has always been a realistic and practical option.

Oh, one more thing as this is a funny story and this is as good a time as any to tell it. Looking at the new prices for "finecast" resin reminded me of it. I worked at the "friendly local game store" back in the early 90`s. GW had just come out with the two uber characters for Fantasy battle, Teclis and Prince something or another with a big hat. They came out with uber prices. I believe Teclis was 7.50$ US for a single miniature, the Prince Whatshishat was mounted and like 12. (Yes, this was unprecedently expensive for the time.) My boss got off the phone with the GW rep after chatting with him about the latest order and double checking on the prices. The rep said to the effect, "Well they are expensive, but they are so good in the game everyone will want them." The rich kids and hard core competitive tournament guys will shell out. If they sell less, well fine. The price increase will make up for decreased volume.

I have never balked at GWs pricing decisions in the past, and have always taken the counter-spevna stance in support of the company that continues to expand the games that we love. However this time, I think they've gone a bit too far.
well that settles it I am out of 40k I and FB I have better things to do with my time anyway...
aww, you're not serious right? We have already invested too much into the hobby to just quit. I want to keep playing GW games, but now I will have to prioritise which one. I will have to side with Fantasy battle because I find it the better game.

@badruk : You can't quit FB!, want a game on saturday?
40k will always be the game with the best fiction out there.
yes, beyond a doubt.
IF.. GW resculpt the original models and actually manage to improve the model
I heard that they are using the exact same casts. so should look the same in all respects. The price hike remains unjustified.
I will need to get started with HordesMachine
Are we going to change this forum to Nagoya Machine then?

Does this mean that you are selling your 40k stuff?
I think that 40k and WHFB are awesome games and I will still keep playing GW games even after this but...
I can't choose man! I also really want to decide on 1 system but I can't choooose.. I have models for both 40k (space wolves) and FB (warriors of chaos) now but that's just too many models for me, so..I need to get that fantasy game under my belt to be able to decide first..

Anyway I think that Badruck will eventually get back ;)

If this is true then I agree with everyone else, changing to a cheaper material and adding "fine" to the brand name doesn't justify a price raise.

As has already been said, no need for us to stop playing.

We all have armies, we all have the rules. Just play with what we have.

If new books come out, just download them.

If new models come out, just proxy with what you have.

I know that everyone has different breaking points ( I reached mine ages ago), but I reckon that this will rile up most people.
