That goes with out saying... I do not thing folks were too confused about the Tau Army I took to Nagoya Hammer there were all kinds of conversions and proxies but they all had the right gear and the right look that is the art of conversion to make it obviously different and yet obviously count as...

make sure you read up on as much fluff as you can so that things dont look silly. e.g. having a dragon on your banner would be a no-no.

Dive in Badruck! PP games rock (I`m including Monsterpocalypse in this statement - it`s the hottest game in Hiroshima and Okayama right now). If you are worried about going overboard, just try one of the minor factions (Farrows, Gators, Rhulic Dwarves, Pirates). I love Warmahordes: no ties, every game can end in a strange twist of fate, very deep tactical thinking required, rolling to pick up a werewolf and throw it into a wizard and splat both of them against wall instead of just rolling "to hit", huge discrepencies in playstyles WITHIN EACH FACTION, great balance between the armies overall (except maybe Cryx, those bastards have EVERYTHING going their way currently)...what`s not to love?

The switch to non-random packaging has got some Nagoyaites pricking up their ears as well. (Personally, I'm a sucker for anything with proprietary dice, heh.) Too many games, too many games!

It would be a lot more like putting a symbol of Slaanesh on your Craftworld Eldar, or having your Americans in FoW painted up with swastikas on their flags.

Which may not bug you either, but when it comes down to it, PP has really good, really well-realized fluff, which a lot of people playing the game have fun getting into. Ignoring it is going to take them out of the game. In short, some folks do care.

thus speaketh the man who hath not read his fluff. Hence my advice...

thus speaketh the man who hath. :D

I think when you get into a new game, its well worth your while to read up on the background. It makes the game so much more enjoyable. I mean, 40k orks are not LotR orcs, are they? Someone coming to the game from a standing start could be forgiven for making that assumption. But he'd be wrong.

Likewise, trollbloods are NOT like trolls in warhammer. Elves in Warmahordes are NOT like elves in Warhammer (well, they are arrogant pointy ears, granted, but...)

Badruck - when you come down on the 25th I can hit you up with a bunch of warmachine rulebooks on pdf if you want. Cant do much for hordes, cos I dont have em. (*thinks* hmmn. Havent looked for em for a while - maybe its time for a shufty around the interweb again...)

*edit* found em. Well, the cards at any rate. Faction books, too, but it seems to be quite a low res scan, based on file size. will tell u more when i know.

Welcome to the team!
The starting warcaster "sorscha" is a little weak and is mainly a support caster. Khador has some absolute combat monsters (Karchev and The Butcher) which play well with Khador's slow and brutal style and some nice all rounder casters such as Vlad and Strakov. Mind you, I only have one game with Sorscha under my belt and I lost that so maybe I am biased against her. I generally use The Butcher in most games and do very well with him. :D
The 2 warjacks in the starting set are good allrounders with a nice big cannon on one and the other being very very stompy as and when it gets up close and personal. :D Khador does big and stompy so well ork mekboyz get jealous.
