Wayland have got a petition going on their Facebook page to send to GW. Asking them to reconsider the international fan base
I've recalled my skaven order for now, I'm thinking I don't have time to paint all those models, still this really is the last chance and that is a good deal Maelstrom are doing.

If you had 230 pounds (26,000 en) to spend on a new fantasy army what would you buy as a last order before no more models?

Forget about yesterday, don't worry about tomorrow because all that matters is today.

re:GWJ price increases

what I bought from Maelstrom last week:
A Razorwing
A Talos
A Venom
2 boxes of Scourges

What it cost me:

11,115 yen

what it would have cost me from GWJ

22,600 yen (plus shipping - dont forget this)

I mean, HUH! WTF! Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeh!

In short:

:o

I cannot express my opinion on this more clearly than the emoticon. (although my shift to thinking almost exclusively about painting as opposed to gaming may be more representative of my giving up on collecting GW minis)

Honestly I've been giving some consideration to an Empire army built using English Civil War Cavaliers.
£54 (the price of a GW battleforce) gets you:
90 infantry
24 cavalry
http://www.maelstromgames.co.uk/index.p ... ss_102_000
Ok, its not as bulky looking as GW's stuff and the cavalry would all be outriders/pistoliers, but its possible.
The cannons from that range are comparable in price to GW (being metal to GW's plastic), but everything else is cheaper by a mile. You'd have trouble with some of the specialist Empire stuff like Greatswords, Knights (though you could mix in medieval stuff easily), war altars and steam tanks, but an army of State Troops is dirt cheap.

Or you could finish off your orcs and get everything you dont already have.

Me too, exactly the same models. I actually wanted a pair of Razorwings and a pair of venoms, but I didnt have enough cash. In related news, I have a British fleet for Dystopian Wars on the way complete with aircraft carrier and fighters.

Well you now have all the GW stuff you need mate. No need to get all the new fangled stuff to continue enjoying gaming.

Taken from the GW site.
The Citadel Finecast miniatures are all made from a unique resin formula. For us as hobbyists, this is great news. The resin is easy to work with and quick to cut off the sprue, making assembling a miniature easier than it has ever been. Not only that, but it's incredibly light too, which means pinning wings and other heavy components will be a thing of the past. So, quick and durable, that's a good start. But of course, one of the main reasons for this change to resin was quality. One thing you'll notice immediately when you pick them up is the exceptionally sharp detail on the model, which can only be described as staggering. For dedicated painters (which we all are to some extent) this is a dream come true.
I love how they are trying to make it sound like they are doing us a favour. Not a single mention of it being cheaper than metal. Wow, we sure are lucky that GW love us enough to give us easier to work with, lighter, and more durable miniatures. I feel the love more and more each time I read this paragraph.

I'm just so excited that GW have done something so unique and innovative. Resin for miniatures eh? What a fantastic idea. Why did no-one think of that before. Of course I dont mind them increasing the price as this new fangled resin stuff looks the business. We're all so lucky to have GW looking out for us like this. I'm just glad that there are no other gaming companies around who might want to steal this idea for themselves. Heck, I'm just glad that GW are the ONLY gaming company in the world otherwise some cry-babies might decide to try out some new, clearly inferior game.

Oh and in case you cant tell, I was being sarcastic.

#Edit# - If you check out the GW page, the Emperor's Champion model is wearing a cross on a chain around his neck. Check out the bottom corner of the cross.
You'd think they'd put up pictures of models that didnt contain a miscast. :D :D

Is this related do you think? From Privateer Press
Since the release of Mk II, both Warmachine and Hordes have seen an explosive amount of growth that has created an unprecedented demand for these award-winning miniatures games. In response, Privateer Press has been steadily increasing production staff and facilities. However, even with these measures in place, the tremendous popularity of the games has continued to outpace our ability to produce them.

With demand continuing to remain at record levels, Privateer Press has decided to delay August releases to give both our production facility and our distribution channels time to get closer to total back order fulfillment.

Privateer Press would like to thank everyone who has helped make Mk II such an amazing success. We remain committed to producing the best entertainment experiences for discerning audiences.

Be sure to watch www.privateerpress.com for the latest news and information on upcoming releases for Warmachine and Hordes.

eyes like a hawk, has ole' Primarch...

As for the PP stuff, I sometimes wonder if there arent secretly some PP chaps on the board at GW. I mean, could GW have helped out PP any more than they did? Really? They may as well have sent them a wee card saying

"dear sirs,

We have too many customers and would like to send some of them your way. We have decided that GW is above the need for customers, so for the moment if you could take as many as you can off our hands, we would be deeply appreciative.

Yrs,

GW management"

It's done, I changed the Maelstrom skaven order to update my orc and goblin and invest in some Prussian Napoleonics (Warlord) and the Black Powder rules.
I've also ordered more for my Roman Empire and the Hail Caesar rules if anyone fancies historical. Mike before you remind me, I know, The Red Devils are on the bench waiting to be painted for Flames. They are just so small! I feel a lot cleaner ordering non GW models for some reason and I got a lot for my money. Each box of Prussians had 30 models or so and came to about 14 quid.
Great I've got some motivation and lots of new painting projects to inspire me now. Thank god I didn't just order rats.
The hobby lives on with or without GW. 3 cheers Hooray! Charrrrrrrrrrrrge.
