great way to stick it to the man...
Amen to that!
No chance I can do a few dead blood angels and call em "unit fillers" for my incubi, no? Maybe some land raider shrapnel, and stick em in my fire dragon unit? no?
Don't see a reason why not! Flex those creative muscles, yeah. I sure the bleeding remains of a certain relative to a certain crimson fisted chapter master would make a fine unit filler.
I think even 25% could be pushing it with smaller units of 20.
hmm yeah I think you have a point there. However if you have a unit of 20 and fill 5 of those bases with unit filler and then tack on the the five left over to boost unit strength to 25 I think that might be ok. I'm building schnazzy unit fillers now, so I'll post some diagrams and pictures later.
I think a small unit of Cav. might not look right if the ranks are not full
yeah I have to agree here. Cav has got to have to ranks, there are few enough as there is so no unit fillers there. Maybe if someone decided to go with a horde of cav, like the Rohirrim.. haha, that would be funny.

That would give me something to do with those weird teepee / idol thingies
A most excellent idea sir. That idol thing was made for unit fillers I think.

Looks cool Jus! I am all for unit fillers. Being a fluff guy it just makes the table look awesome!

Let's hope my Hawk Lord's army will get itself sorted soon, complete with some cool looking fillers! :D

for cavalry, I think you could do a filler if it was done right. probably at the 15 or 20 mini mark having a cool hero character in the middle, horse standing atop a defeated enemy would be cool

thankyou all, for expressions of support. I would to keep this thread alive and going with all things unit filler. So please post your work in progress unit fillers here, or link it if you like. I'm really looking forward to what cool and crazy unit fillers you all can come up with.

I would also like to open this thread up to everyone for suggestions and ideas on what might be cool and fitting fillers for our armies. For example:

Job dwarfs regiments ought to have some unit filler dedicated to carrying a keg of bugman's finest brewery into battle!

Maybe Ash and TOD should have a orc or goblin punch up in the middle of a huge unit to represent animosity?
a cool hero character in the middle, horse standing atop a defeated enemy would be cool
mm yeah thats a good one.
the Old Death. Enigma, i believe? Chou mortarion, no?)
Sure is. It only took Maelstrom almost 6 months to acquire the model and ship it to me. Six months....SIX ugh. Chou mortarion, without power armour. The aesthetics are there though, Chaos sorcerer indeed.

The reason he's my unit filler hasn't been fully fleshed out yet. But apparently, ghostly apparitions and visions are supposed to accompany a vampire counts army to war. So the idea is Death himself is marching along with the grave guard...coming to take your SOUL! that and I think he looks cool.

If it's filler for the purpose of stretching your miniatures, you could put 1 mount diagonally on 2 bases, add some bits and call it 2 figures. Maybe make it look like the back rank is still moving into position and has not gotten lined up yet because it's moving around some terrain.
