and I unlike some Gaijin players I rather enjoy a game with the Japanese players.
nobody said that they didnt. Personally, I play Japanese gamers at Warmahordes quite a lot, and at 40k a bit. Its not our fault that most of the Japanese gamers prefer Warmahordes to 40k. You should play more Warmahordes - then youd see what we're talking about :D (yeah, yeah, in the post, I know...)

I reckon he is referring to me there mate.

I do prefer playing fellow foreigners.

Any hobby where the price of the item increases regularly?
And to be honest, not many people can actually get away with charging more than they paid for the item. Most of the stuff sold on ebay etc goes for less than its RRP. Nearly everything I have ever bought second hand has been cheaper than the original price and then given a bath in Simple Green.
And the folks who do get paid a decent sum for their model are putting in a lot of time and effort as well.

I knew a guy once who went round flea markets and car boot sales and bought old, stuffed animals. He took them home, cleaned them up, made a new display and mounted them properly and sold them for a lot of money. :D

If the admiral wants to stop his boycott of GW products, then I say good! While using your existing models exclusively is fine if that's what you really want, I would much rather people go and expand their armies once in a while adding new models and painting them up in fun creative ways.

I think, what this thread needs right now, are some respectful inspirational comments that don't concern prices, or cynicism toward other posters comments. For example :

I think warhammer is a great game, and has an IP, so rich and awesome, that no other IP in the wargaming market comes even close. I think we should all continue playing warhammer, and expanding our armies with cool and awesome models (being sensible with your wallet all the while). :D

not that I disagree entirely with the above post, but there is one good reason to not buy more warhammer stuff.

GW's attitude.

They offend me, plain and simple.

If we continue to buy their stuff despite their having made it clear that they want us to bugger off and die, surely that makes us mugs? The way they treat their customers (i.e. us) is downright rude. AND its terrible business. I'm not against the occasional tiny special event purchase (keradruahk, fr example, should he ever come to pass) but the days of MiJ buying whole 2000pt armies in one fell purchase (I did do this with both my tau and DE, btw) are gone. Gone diddly gone. I really think the time has come when we can finally turn our backs on them.
or cynicism toward other posters comments.

Ditto. Anyone who continues to buy from GW at the rate they were doing previously is indeed a complete and utter mug.
And the award for NagoyaHammer's most anti-social b4st4rd goes to....
While I don't disagree with the above (though I would add that I am boring as well as anti-social ;) ), I feel that I should clarify my initial statement.

I play as a way to chill out, shoot the shit with my mates, and do something a bit imaginative. I have generally found that the language barrier is too much of a barrier for me to be able to do this. The majority of the blame for that falls squarely on my shoulders though. Saying that, I think that Satoru is a great guy to play against. His energy and attitude helps to bridge any communication difficulties. He, and I a sure most would agree, is not your typical Japanese guy.

Anyway, that is enough of a tangent. Back to my main point;

Still buying loads of GW stuff = Total mug with no self respect.
