And now you have something better. :D :D :D :D
Free rules based mainly on 2nd edition with the better parts of 3rd and 4th for good measure.
You're welcome by the way. :D

Go for it. I'd be up for that.

Sorry. :) Having played both 2 and 4 (and 3, and 1) extensively, 4 is definitely my ruleset of choice. I know you disagree, but I will not be swayed.

I'll think about an Epicstravaganza, though. I'd need some more terrain if I want to run a couple games simultaneously... <wheels turning>

When it rains, it pours...

Hours after I order the infantry for my nascent Necron force ('cause hey, it comes to a total of 20GBP for all of it, and my Epic painting queue is pretty much clear, so why not?) my old friend from Fukuoka replies to my e-mail of a few weeks ago. See, he's the guy that I sold my Tyranids to back in the day, and I got in touch a bit ago asking if he wanted to sell them back to me, since there isn't an Epic scene in Fukuoka any more, and selling them has been the only sale of miniatures I've ever really regretted.

So now I have both Necrons and Tyranids in the mail, and will have to find room in my hobby budget for the 20,000 yen it'll all set me back* (not to mention room in my hobby cabinet for all the minis). Should keep me occupied painting though! (Pics when I get started.)

Fortunately, this shouldn't affect my ability to buy a shiny new Zuzzy mat in time for the beginning of December, heh. (It does, unfortunately, put a crimp in my plans to finish up 1500 points of FoW by the end of the year. )

*Edit: Holy cow, I just checked eBay. Looks like selling off my single extra Dominatrix (I have two and there's now a hard limit of 1 per army) could well finance a significant chunk of the cost of the whole army.

yes, but it's a happy rain

As I've said before, I used to but no longer play epic. 'nids are the one army that makes me go "hmmmmn" every time I see em. Dat's a proper swarm, and no mistake. None of this 40k pocket-sized swarm nonsense...
current (2019) hobby interests
eh, y'know. Stuff, and things

Wow. And then Corona happened. Just....crickets, all the way through to 2023...

I may well have 3000 points of 'em repainted* in time for the Epicstravaganza in December... :D

*When I got them on release back in '95, Tyranids still had their "bright clown colors" painting scheme, so they'll need a revamp.

Great to hear there's going to be a nice reunion. As for the FOW schedule being backed up, it's a little disappointing, but Epic is a good game be also buying into. I'll have to buy some more FOW stuff and you can borrow my stuff whenever, as you are always so nice to lend your Epic stuff. ;)

The Tyranids are still in the mail, but wave 1 of the Necrons has arrived! (And apparently I did the math wrong and bought rather more than I need... Oh well!) That plus the scarabs / tomb spyders plus enough bits to make a passable pylon I got from Prim on Sunday gives me a nice start to the force.

Pics when I get them painted, which shouldn't be long because, hey, Necrons.

They Rise!
Image
My first infantry phalanx - a bunch of warriors and immortals, supported by tomb spyders and pariahs. You gotta love how the Exodus Wars models are designed to fit those roles so perfectly, heh. Plus a Pylon, which turned out all right for a kitbash! It doesn't have the classic Pylon shape, but it's still obviously what it is - a big F-off stationary gun platform.

As expected, it's a dirt-simple paint job - took maybe 2 hours for the whole formation start to finish. Go team Necron!
