shading of the white. the all white helmet is brighter enough to blind the opposing player

The models look good, but the sarge's bolt pistol looks rather bland.

i reckon the white helmets are quite nicely shaded, altho each to his own, and all that :)

i agree with Spev in that the vents (particularly on the sarge) could use quick wash in black to really make them deeper. Not so much that it kills the detail, but enough to make the recesses black (or at least very very dark).

I also reckon that the wingmen could use some bloody spatters, much like the sarge. The sarge is recognisable by his bare head (obviously. Rule 1 of sarge-spotting, really.) so a bit of splat on the regular chaps wouldnt detract from his identifiability. The red blood contrasts very well with the blue/white combo, and makes them clearly NOT loyalist.

A suggestion: For my Blight Drone bloody bits, I used straight gloss varnish (kinda gloopy stuff) mixed in a wee tray with some red ink, black ink, and purple ink for the blood. It looked right orrible, so it did. Just a wee bitty transparent, and red and glossy as a big mug of Vlad von Carstein's favourite tipple. I reckon itd be ace on your W'eaters. (do it last, after you varnish them regularly, otherwise youd lose the gloss effect.)

Still, as they are, theyre looking mighty nice. Good Job, Mr. Badruck :)

The helmets are fine. There is enough shading to see a dividing line between the helmet and the rim. Extra shading wouldn't hurt but isn't necessary.

Next week, spiders!
So I see you're doing an Ultramarines army. You should totally kit your HQ out with twin powerfists.

Spider Riders, one of two ranks done. Taking a break from the mounts to paint up the riders really helped. The goal is to get the whole unit done by Saturday night, then get started on the final regiment on Sunday.

My goblins? 40 gobbos with spears and shields, 20 with bows, 10 on giant spiders, plus a big boss and a shaman, comes to a touch over 500 points.
