Google Street View has been done for Nagoya, Tokyo, and most other major Japanese cities.
Re: Tsu painting day December 4th. Centre Palace.
Yeah I kind of like the fact that they haven't done it here yet. I find it all a bit creepy the way you can zoom in on peoples houses.
Just some thoughts from yesterday. After we finished yesterday evening me and Satarou went to a new hobby shop that has just opened up in Tsu Shinmachi. It's called Bluebell Hobby (a modelers hideaway). Cool name.
He mainly specialises in military stuff and the airbrush paints but the European scenery for sale in there got me thinking about what we could make at the arts club. I've got my heart set on doing a group project next year. It could be modeling based or art based, any ideas are welcome. For UK gamers think Blue Peter meets fantasy modeling.
For example with the recent renaissance of Blood Bowl hitting Aichi, Gifu and Mie we could build an all singing all dancing football stadium. MIJ you mentioned you had made a Dungeon Bowl board already, perhaps that could be included as well. Diaramas are cool too if anyone has any ideas we could work on a section each. If you wanted we could add to my Mordheim board I made last year as Medieval stuff is always fun to make. I'm interested in scratch building something as I've never really done much of that and think it would be worth the effort.
Open to ideas creative or otherwise. Thinking caps on folks, let me know.
Also if I ran a film day what films would you be interested in watching on the big screen. (Projector). The Whisperer in the Darkness has just been released so that might be a good one.

Generic fantasy/historic scenery would be the most useful in the long run rather than a BB pitch Imho.

I have no idea what meeting room we're in, but take the elevator just inside the door up to the 2nd floor and listen at meeting room doorways until you hear the sounds of foreign laughter

Zulu. Cool! Perhaps fantasy generic that can be used for Warhammer and 40k as well as historical then.

Re: Tsu painting day December 4th. Centre Palace.
Maybe there's some scenery piece we could make for NagoyaHammer.
Re: Tsu painting day December 4th. Centre Palace.
I know Nagoyahammer already have enough tables and terrain so if we did do something for them it would have to be special as their tables are really super nice.
Looking online at youtube etc I'm hard pressed to find 40k gaming tables that look special. They all have the burnt out, WW2 Arnhem look going on which always leaves me a bit depressed for obvious reasons.
What I liked about the Nagoyahammer tables was the variety, colour and imagination they had put in to each table. Even the imperial city looked good which is hard to do as the terrain is pretty bleak.
If anything was needed in ways of terrain or a board for Nags I would love to do something like the inside of a space station or open planned hulk. Even better a hive world, something like that. One idea that struck me was taken from the Dark Heresy that Stu ran at Tsu Rpg this year. A low tech human world which is imperial medieval in it's appearance. Think Black Powder meets 40k and you have it. If we could get hold of the scenario there were some fantastic descriptions in there that would make good guidelines, especially the intro stuff with the water dock town.
Timewise we would have 4 sessions to get it sorted. Bare in mind Daves baby is due in Feb and mine will be in May so even if we met once a month it might not be all parties present so we would have to do the majority of the planning online beforehand.
If there is interest I'll cue that music.

Re: Tsu painting day December 4th. Centre Palace.
I'm a big fan of terrain building, but be warned: it can get expensive if you want to do something nice.
Do you want to do a table or a single terrain piece?
If table, I have some ideas for a swamp set-up (which, to be fair, I'm building myself anyway.) Or, there's always the ol' standby desert (good for araby/necrons/general 40k/french foreign legion) Dunes, however, dont play well. Or, how about moonscape? Surface of a big humungous spaceship? (anybody fails an armour save, auto death from depressurisation
) medieval pagentry - stripy tents n pavilions n stuff? Modern day shopping mall interior? how about a beach? (normandy landings?)
For a single terrain piece, you kinda have to choose something game-specific, as its the little details that bring a piece to life.
How about a group table, and we also individually (at home) make a single terrain piece for a game of our choice to match the table?
for example, if we made a beach table together on the day(s), at home I could do a line of 40k defence bunkers, Ash could do a sea elf watchtower, somebody else does actual normandy bunkers, somebody else does cryxian sewage outlets (whatever) etc etc.?
*edit* ooh! beached pirate ship? A beach table is appealing more and more to me...
*edit again*
just thought of a problem - any texture/extensive painting done on a table would need time to dry. Where could we do this where we could leave a big ol' table to dry overnight?

Re: Tsu painting day December 4th. Centre Palace.
Some nice ideas being floated around.
Bear in mind the tables we already have for NagoyaHammer:
Desert (Necron theme)
Jungle (Nid/Tau theme)
Ruined Imperial City
Ash Wastes/Adeptus Mechanicus Ruins
Mountain
Chaos Temple/Volcano
Imperial Warzone
Woodland (Eldar theme)
Things that I think would be useful include Roads (dirt tracks, cobblestones, tarmac), Rivers (streams, lakes, bridges etc), Fortifications (sandbags, dug outs, foxholes), Ruins (stone walls, watch towers etc), Buildings (Half-Timbered are good as they fit a LOT of things).
The outer hull of a space ship would be good. You could have big vents coming out of it, weapon batteries (big, BIG guns), hull breaches with torn up edges, meteor impacts and all sorts of other goodness. There are rules for void fighting in one of the IA books.
HOWEVER....
If people want to get involved in a big project, and are happy to pitch in, I can save everyone a lot of money because I do have a big project that I could use some help with. This isnt to say that I wont appreciate seeing an awesome beach/spaceship table at NagoyaHammer, just that its another option on the table.
Please see the linky below:

Add to that about 190 odd zulu warriors (time with someones airbrush would be essential I think) and about 60 Brits plus cavalry and a cannon (I can knock those out myself). I was planning on doing a model making day in Nagoya sometime. Spend the morning cutting/filing/glueing zulus and spend the afternoon gaming on my dollar.
Let me know what you think.

My Mordheim board must have been about 5000 yen all in for wood, flock I already had and paint from Karma.I'm a big fan of terrain building, but be warned: it can get expensive if you want to do something nice.
I think Prim might have done this already for Cutlass but we could go with beach and then maybe a spaceship on it. I quite like the idea of moonscape (again the stuff I've found for moonscape online is pretty grim so I reckon we could do better.)*edit* ooh! beached pirate ship? @ Prim- I'd be up for helping with the painting of the Zulus, I need to get Flames of War, Pirates, Bunny girls and Prussians done first though. Maybe by this time next year we could have a massive board done for that game. Zuluuuuuuuuuuuu.
