No.
Even if you both have the same army, your models will have no effect on your teammates models and vice versa, with obvious exceptions such as vehicles exploding.

Not wishing to be an ass (gawd forbid :P ) but I'm assuming you're not including things like blocking LOS when you say "your models will have no effect on your team mates models"

I only mention this because this is a rules thread, so precision of language is important.

Friendly models block LOS and no, you cannot shoot into melee.

Even if you both have the same army, your model's SPECIAL RULES AND WARGEAR will have no effect on your teammates models and vice versa, with obvious exceptions such as vehicles exploding.

Prim,

Sorry, more rule-nitpicking...the explanantion back on page one says that after placing the HQ choices, the rest of the army deploys within 6" of their board edge. Does this mean nothing can be kept in reserve? or only things that must be kept in reserve (like drop pods) can be kept in reserve? or that players can choose to keep some units in reserve?

You MUST deploy your HQs regardless of anything else. Your army deploys as it normally would, just a little further away than usual.
You may then put units into reserve (deepstrike, outflank) as usual. Infiltrators might be a bit of a sneaky way to go too, if you are of a dishonourable disposition. :D

Prim,

Thanks for your quick response. I see. So, the mission follows all of the rules for normal deployment except HQs must deploy in the way described and the deployment zone itself is a little skinnier. Thanks

So one could take a bloodthirster and set it on the table? One could also set a CSM greater daemon on the table to start with.

In this mission, yes. In fact, you'd have to - no choice in the matter. It's key to the mission that both players have their HQ unit swinging in the breeze right from the start.

Bloodthirster, Yes. CSM greater daemon, can you take those as your compulsory Hq? If so, then yes. If not then no, you'd need a CSM lord, sorcerer or prince.
