Maybe because WWI and the French taught everyone that war of maneuvers were dead before WWII? So the Germans were first to really awaken to the idea that tanks and mechanization made possible the return to the power of the offensive.

Yes, otherwise I think the French must have been yelling the same as the Germans went around their very expensive Maginot Line.

Otherwise, are you thinking of EW escalation, too? Your current Brits would easily field as an EW variation. Just proxy your PIATS as Anit-tank rifles and you probably have light mortar teams for EW/MW.

No, I wont be doing EW as I have no interest in the period, too many other projects and things to work on and I am still not 100% sure that I want to spend more time and money on FoW beyond maybe finishing off what I have now.

I don't think any of the gamers out here are interested in early war much. I seem to be the only one who has much interest in the time period.

@Prim: Cool. It makes a lot of sense. I'm looking at my collection and I'm trying to size up an area for building a 40k army. I want one before Nagoyahammer, but I would also prefer to collect CSM. Though without that new codex I'm not sure what to envision for a new CSM army. (I'd like to build one of the Legions.)

To be honest, I don't think many people will jump on the early war band wagon round here. I'm not worried. I actually hadn't planned on anyone signing up for early war and was just going to collect the armies because I like them. That I'll get to field them is a bonus.

OT: I have already bought my Late War Maoris and with a little tinkering with some of their support choices (mainly tanks and A/T weapons) they can easily play Early and Middle as well. Apart from Kiwis Early-war is not the most interesting period for me, although I might be persuaded to take part in an escalation campaign later in the year (BTW I have the Raiding/Infantry Aces packs at my base).

That is great! If you do Maoris/Kiwis, Voss does Fallshirmjager and the Greeks, and I do Gebrigsjager. We essentially have all the forces except the Aussies that took part in the Battle of Crete.

Maybe we can play this through the summer and next autumn and winter. Hopefully then we can springboard into MW later down the road.
