Hmm...how about light blue eyes?

I was thinking that water would be almost religious for people from a desert world, so having blue lenses would allow them to see water all of the time - the dunes would become waves if you will. The weapons and power swords would also be light blue?

: Okay, I'm going to be an uber-geek and point out that the we see colors because objects reflect light in that part of the spectrum heavily. So blue lenses would be reflecting blue light and blocking that from view. But, on the other hand I have no idea what form of light is good for detecting water.

Blue would remind me of the blue eyes of spice addicts in the Dune series. I would think it would be a pretty cool look for your marines.

Don't forget : when you paint a mini, you need to evoke something in the viewer. Regardless of your reasons for choosing something, if it doesnt make te viewer have the same vision you did, you screwed up somewhere. That said, pale blue is not a terrible choice, as desert skies are very blue. Plus, as job said - people are pretty familiar with Fremen, and would probably get the reference. Do you want to link your army with an out-of-game design?

Darkpurple or Aquamarine would really pop but.

Light blue is a good desert colour.

Well, following up on that, logic would suggest that desert residents would need very dark lenses to block out the bright light, but what dark colour would fit with the tan, gold and bronze? Hmm...

Trying for a little brightness. The one yellow shoulder pads represent the sun of the desert home world. Think I will stick with the yellow eyes too.

Not sure about power weapons and plasma etc. Maybe yellow, maybe blue.

My decals are coming soon too. Black scorpions no less. Hope they turn out nicely! Should look good on the yellow shoulder pads.

Shiny! I like it. You may like to hit the bottom edge of the lenses with some brown ink or summat for definition, or just be careful about leaving a blackline in future, but really there's not much to say - good stuff!

(My vote is blue for plasma and power - traditional and nicely contrasting to boot!)

Beautiful! I love the way you shadowed the creases and made the yellow and tans work. In my experience light colors seem so much more difficult.

I'd go with blue to get more contrast and so you can diversify your color palate. But again, paint with what you like first.

Plasma and power weapons? Blue would be my first choice too.

For the plasma gun, start with a mid tone, then do the ridges in a brighter colour and then do a tiny dot of white along the ridge corners, thats what I usually do anyway.

As plasma guns, flamers and meltas are all heat based weapons, I like to add some heat damage to the ends of the guns. Basically paint the gun barrel in a metallic colour, then wash the front 75% of it with Asurmen Blue. After that, wash the front 50% with Devlan Mud (or the home-made brown wash of your choice). Finally lightly drybrush black over the front 25% of the barrel.
