hurrah for the new kid on the block. Ol' jetbikey has served us well, but now he can rest his weary wraithbones

Yon elf is looking good. The question is - will an elf win again next year, or will the dastardly forces of evil become the new poster boys? Greater Daemon of Nurgle ftw, anyone? Nekkid daemonette, p'rhaps?
ps - my advice (and the advice I myself am following whilst considering my entry for next year, should it come to pass) is:
1) enter more than one category. One of these can be single mini, but it should really just be for shits and giggles. Don't put pressure on yourself.
2) Paint something you want to, but do consider the GW judges. New is better than old, and really old (or ltd edition, or otherwise hard to find) is probably an auto-lose. an example would be an eldar bonesinger (ltd ed, cant buy em anymore) or a squat. Conversions, however, are definitely a good thing. The articles "How to win a Golden Daemon" are very, very good. I've heard that advice echoed by several GD winners on CMoN.
3) Don't bite off more than you can chew. e.g. I kinda want to a unit of skinwolves, but itd cost me upwards of 70quid, and my idea includes a rather fiddly scenic base involving trees (which I dont know how to build) and moonlight (which I dont know how to paint.) Yes, I could learn, but p'raps a squad of eldar banshees might be easier on my brain...
4) Make sure you know the rules about categories and what is and isnt ok. Theyre fussy buggers, or so I hear.
