Monster mayhem: is free and fantastic. Slice up zombies and what not. Check it out

Kingdom rush: as ten said, it's excellent for the price. 85 yen or some something

Mine Craft: I wouldn't get yet because its a very basic build compared to the pc version, and you can't install custom texture packs ...yet anyway. An awesome game nonetheless.

Ravenmark : looks really good for a fantasy turn based strategy game, so I want to try it out

Broken Sword. The Shadow of the Templars. Or the FF novels.

@ ashmie: I want to try the fighting fantasy book apps too but unlike the book form you can't leave your finger at page 154 and then proceed down the hall to get crushed to death by a rock...then turn back to page 154. If you die you have to slog through the beginning all over again. Or at least thats what the reviews say. Have you tried these, and is it really this unforgiving?

EDIT: ok nevermind, apparently there is a game save option.

So you can play 15 year old Windows games on Apple machines now? Steve must be turning in his grave.

Catapult king 85 yen: for cheesy war machine action. Basically angry birds with a third person view and in 3d, and you dismantle castles. It's a buy! It costs less than a packet of crisps.

Ravenmark, scourge of estellion: currently my favorite game on iOS. RPG strategy game, that plays like fantasy battle and possibly the first game on iOS that has any sort of narrative substance that isn't the "go save the world and pick up a chalice a rod and a scepter along the way " rubbish plots.

Oh, I love Broken Sword. That game came out in 1997. Of course it seems a little hackneyed now. :) I played it last year and loved every minute.

The FF novels are just impossible to complete unless you use that method of jumping back and forth right. Otherwise one book would take a year.

@jus Good move on buying a piano. Sounds peaceful. :)

Call of Cthulhu The Wasted Land. heavily bugged when first released but version 1.1 is fixed now. Not that I'm biased but this and the FF novels would be my only reason so far for justifying getting an ipad.
