"Counts as" armies

Post by Mike the Pike » Wed Aug 22, 2012 11:41 pm

I am not a particular fan of "counts as" armies, mostly because it seems that the player is just trying to jump on the latest killer codex bandwagon and can't be bothereed buying/painting a new army. However, I would have no problem playing these guys....

Cheers for that. Great looking army.

And I agree with your sentiments about Counts As.

If an army already has a list , use it.

The conversions and painting are very well done I must admit, but as far as the Monolith and Ghost Ark models go, I am just not seeing it. Everything else is representing the same unit type (or close enough, dreads for MCs), but those two are clearly not skimmers.

I'm totally with Mike on the sentiments. (Of course I'm not saying people shouldn't proxy if they want to experiment with some new lists and I'm not against a well crafted model.)

And that collection is just plain awesome. Very imaginative and beautifully painted.

Based on effort alone, I'd be comfortable with playing the linked "counts as" army. Normally not much of a proxy fan though, especially when it's a regular occurence or a lot of the models aren't what they are supposed to be. I have enough trouble remembering what the real models represent, so having to recall that someone's bolter is really a melt is a headache.

Currently on a crappy inflight internet connection, so curious to see if this posts or timesout...
