Re: What did you do today.
Fiddled with Dropzone Commander lists, read through the rules and stuff. (Not much game there, by my tastes, although what they have looks solid enough, and the models, of course, are loverly.)
Thought about things I need to do to get ready for the Epic event, chief among them writing up a clear breakdown of the assault rules, as Sunday's game had me fumbling pretty hard on that count.

Re: What did you do today.
Spending my day trying to salvage what I can from the hobby stuff I can find after moving.
I found some spray..
I used the Tamiya Matt Black no gloss before and it worked good.
I also found some Matt white Tamiya spray, is this one any good for spraying models?
When it comes to grey and white priming, do you use tamiya or any other ones?
I think that a white or grey primer would work better for my colour scheme
Edit* If I can recall things right.. there was some problem with the tamiya matt white spray right?
And when I recall some more, I think there were Tamiya primers, they suck, while the sprays like matt black work good for priming? Or am I just babbling nonsense right now

Re: What did you do today.
Both Tamiya and Mr. Hobby are pretty good as far as I know. I've been using Mr. Hobby for quick jobs lately, and the stuff is remarkably wear-resistant, like a protective coating of plastic.Seb wrote: I used the Tamiya Matt Black no gloss before and it worked good.

Re: What did you do today.
Ive used Tamiya white, grey and black with no probs in the past.
What I did today:
Hmmn. Where to start....
Well, I started on Lelith's skin. Not sure what's going on with it, tbh. Colours are all fkd up, for starters. I swear that paint was brownish red when I mixed it into my flesh. And speaking of flesh, why is it that dark flesh, basic flesh and elf flesh just dont get on? orangey-green, anyone? Anyway, Basic tones were applied, and then rescue attempt started. As you can see, bits have been rescued-ish, but nothing is finished yet, and there is still a looooong way to go before the skin is finished. days. At least a week. Maybe more than one. Painting skin again, and again, and again, and
argh
btw, there's a huuuuuuuuge great miscast mould slip right down her chest and belly. Really annoying, as thats the best bit of the sculpt in my opinion (the twising stomach muscles must have been a bastard to sculpt right, and now they have mould line. Brilliant
)
Right: pics. Dont judge me too harsh - its a WIP

Interesting to note: her hair is not blue - its straight up black/white primer. The blue tone is from the light I was using.
gah! the light is just white-out city. Everything is over exposed. grumble grumble grumble. And there was me hoping for a nice relaxing night of painting for once
*edit* hmmn. intrestin...A little mucking about in Gimp shows me that I at least got the shading/highlighting in the right places - its just the colours that are messed up. (her right arm is pretty much unfixed. The head, chest and left arm/shoulder got the most work today.)

Re: What did you do today.
Worried that, for some reason, I seem to have input the wrong apartment number on PayPal, so my latest eBay purchase is being shipped to next door. The mail dude is usually good about catching that, but... Worried.

Re: What did you do today.
@MiJ: the flesh looks really good around the face of the model. The backside... risque.
Last night I fell asleep without doing any painting. Today I'll try to do a little here and there.

Re: What did you do today.
I bought all those Vallejo flesh colours and I have to agree, dark flesh looks terrible when used to paint flesh. It gives the skin a sickly orangish tinge. Instead, I find beige makes a good base colour.me_in_japan wrote:And speaking of flesh, why is it that dark flesh, basic flesh and elf flesh just dont get on?
On the other hand, dark flesh is awesome for non-flesh uses. Mixed into brown, it creates lighter shades that are perfect for fur, hair, and leather. It also lightens red very nicely without turning pink.
