Today I mostly read the new CSM 'dex. Thoughts here. I also imbibed a bottle of Chimay and pondered what else needed doing on Lelith. I appreciate there's been a bit of a lull in lelith related painting these past few days. I must confess I suspect I'm subconsciously putting it off, as all that's left is some rather tedious blending/glazing work, fixing the mane (not sure how) and fiddly stuff like eyes, lips, and tattoos. It'll be done by the end of the weekend, I shorely do hope. Once she's done, I have a bit of a quandry to wallow in. Do I:

a) Get to work on some stuff for GD next year. I'm feeling quite stressed out by this, as I know I take a frickin dog's age to do anything to a high standard, and I worry that if I don't get to it it GD will roll around and I won't have anything ready. Problem is, I don't really feel that inspired to paint GW stuff at the moment (except my nurgs, and they appeal because they can be speed painted.)

or

b) paint some stuff for fun. Some trollbloods, some cryx, or particularly at the moment, nurgle marine stuff.

What to do?

Yesterday I fiddled around with sketchup to make a plan for my future games room. It's unfinished as yet, and will be getting some more shelves, a bit of under-floor storage space, as well as an actual table, of course. I'm tempted to do away with the door in the longer wall. I mean, do I really need 2 doors? (It's in the architect's plans, so I kept it in my sketch. The architect is a decent chap though, and will happily move things like doors and windows, as long as it doesn't muck up the structural integrity and stuff.) I was thinking that if I lost the 2nd door, I could put the old couch in that corner, and hang some pics on the wall. Geek stuff, probly

Anybody got any suggestions for Things I Must Have in my games room? By all means fire away. Btw, the arched window would look into the main hall, and across that into the living room. The house will be pretty open plan, and the window would allow me to keep an eye on the kid(s) and holler to the missus for tea when necessary The main space is 6 tatami, with the cupboard being another 1 and the painty niche another 1. (dat's 8 tatami in total for the arithmetically challenged amongst you...)

Have you planned out what category(ies) you would enter for the GDs?

40k unit, 40k duel, possibly 40k vehicle (depending on how some test runs go on models I have now). After that there's potential for 40k single (which I wouldnt win but if I had a half decent model to enter I would), fantasy single (ditto, although in this case I have a particular mini in mind that I'd buy specially). Maybe a fantasy monster, but that'd only be if I got all my other entries painted in time, which is laughably unlikely.

How about yourself? Any plans?

I salute you if you have the guts to enter in the single model categories. I'm doing fantasy regiment again, probably fantasy diorama, maybe fantasy monster, and maybe 40k vehicle. I actually got my regiment plans figured out today.

You seem to be pretty excited about the new CSM. Why not start something there that would be useful for gaming too?

If I painter CSM it'd defo be for gaming. I would hate to spend tumpty hours painting a mini for GD, use it for gaming, and end up with a chip r something. Any mini I do for GD is going to have to be painting only. Gaming minis will be just for fun. Part of what I enjoy about my nurgle stuff is that it can be pretty slapdash, both in terms of conversion and painting. I don't feel particularly inclined to labour over one. But, if I started a nurgle mini and felt that it could work in a GD context, I might pull it out of gaming circulation and work on it for GD. At the mo it's all hypothetical. I need to get kbear's Lelith done before I really start thinking GD...
