Might we see a Whedon Star Wars movie?

And how many shades and flavors of win would that be? Answer- all of them.

While I will not, nor could I, defend the new series, remember the originals were ....campy, stinky, silly things but we didn't notice or care because we were 6 years old. Star Wars is awesome in spite of George Lucas and will do fine without him. Let the man rest and swim in his Olympic sized pool of money. I doubt Disney will screw this up. They have 4 billion dollars invested in it after all.

The ewoks were cutey fuzzballs, indeed, but at least they were speaking in weird alien lingo, much like almost all the other aliens in the original movies. Suddenly in the prequels all aliens speak English? Huh? Nah - the originals may have been hokey, but at least their principle purpose was to tell a story. The latter ones existed purely to make money, nothing else. That's a critical difference, IMHO.

(I appreciate the first ones were intended to make a profit, too, but the storytelling desire was at least a factor, y'know?)

1) Last Crusade (easily the best)
2) Raiders of the lost Ark (great movie)
3) Temple of Doom (meh)
4) The shit one.
