I avoid bright yellows too. I start with cream/beige, add a sepia wash, and maybe some white/ivory highlights.kojibear wrote:The ivory and red looks cool.![]()
Not sure if it helps or is important for your asthetics, but one tip I learned for doing blond hair was to use colours like snakebite leather (not sure what its equivalent is now) and then highlight up using desert yellow or something like that. This way you get a less anime feel and more of a flaxen blond - if that us what suits your image.![]()

^what Kbear said re:blondes. *edit after closer look* and aye, going around and lining in highlights to sharpen up shapes will help define details a lot. A touch more highlighting on her nose an cheekbones wouldn't go amiss, either.

No painting for me today.
I did write a letter of complaint yesterday to Warlord Games as some items Ikeda san ordered back in October still hadn't been dispatched. Within 30 minutes (on a sunday mind), I had an email from the owner of the company John Stallard and then another email a little later from the manager Paul Sawyer (aka Fat Bloke from WD). Both of them were very apologetic and promised to haul their sales/dispatch team over the coals. Lo and behold today I get an email saying that all the mispacked items were on their way special delivery. Sad that things got to the stage where I had to complain about them, but happy that things are finally moving along in the right direction.
Hopefully in the future the service will be better, we shall see.
Tomorrow - Painting more Napoleonics. Yay.

Re: What did you do today.
Got some more painting done on my SM commander and finished some pieces off for the stormtalon. That was about it. Going to whip the elves to paint faster but looks like i won't have the army ready for this sunday. I thought I would have gotten more done on the weekend but it turned out to be a busy one. I did find this while looking for pics.
Not sure if its reflecting on the bravery of space marines or it is a chaos whirlwind.

@PV - the evil xenos in me can't help but snigger...
@Prim - it's odd for warlord to slip up like that. Still, good to hear they jumped to attention when it was brought to theirs.
As for me, yesterday I pretty much finished basing my showgirls. I just have a couple more magnet holes to drill for my lunging coryphee's bases. I used to think Eldar howling banshees were awkward to base, all jumping around like they're doing ballet. After doing the showgirls I now know what fiddly basing really means, as some of them actually are doing ballet
Next: convert up those Mierce brutes to make em a bit more plaguey. That, and paint the gurlz. And finish off ToD's wings - they've been sitting there primed for months now...

I think the whirlwind conversion is for the Angry Marines chapter.

Re: What did you do today.
Worked on my Malifaux Neverborn crew. Lilith and 4 others are done and dusted. I also primed and pre-based six others. Then I did battle with Nekima, the dark sibling (trying to assemble her).
I also worked on some Dark Eldar reinforcements too.

Re: What did you do today.
Today I finished painting the last of my Napoleonic miniatures. (Not y'know the actual last ones, just the last ones from this batch, I do have more). They're painted, varnished and glued down to bases. If I have time tonight I may even get sand glued to the bases. I also started painting some of the bases on other units that were painted a while ago.
Productivity yay!

Re: What did you do today.
Sounded like a lot of good games went down last Sunday. Wish I could have dropped by but it was a tight schedule that day. No pics?
I got some tabards painted up on some SM bodies that'll be used for sanguinary priests or characters. Put the last coat on about 20 SM arms and glued a few pieces on my storm talon. then built a small console desk for any buiilding or turrent. Lastly base coated the start of my lava river rocks and three gun turrets which the gf put a second coat on this evening.
Now I watched Spartacus war of the damned and will turn in.
