Only a tiny bit of painting tonight - silver on the blades. I used Vallejo liquid metal - cant say as I'm that enamoured with it. A lot of fuss with separate thinners, and it looks a hella lot like vma silver to me. Meh, we shall see how it goes tomorrow :)

For silver, I usually just use Vallejo Air steel or chromium. Where their alcohol-based range really shines is in the golds and copper. I cannot find anything else that gives the same smooth finish that actually looks like metal. Part of the reason is that it uses real metal powders that you can't use in a water-based paint.

@ten - out of interest, did you find the VLM difficult to work with? I have 3 pots (gold, copper and white gold, which is basically silver) and all 3 had really bad separation issues. Even after shaking them like a nut for a couple of minutes, and then opening them and mixing vigorously with a stick, I still had great clumps of congealed paint, of a kinda freshly-mixed-milliput-like consistency. If it had been just the one pot I'd have chalked it up to an unlucky buy, but since all of them were like that, I thought it light be considered normal. What have your experiences been?

Yeah, separation is an issue. (I suppose because the particles are heavier than normal pigment.) A new pot needs stirring with a stir stick before its first use to dredge up the stuff at the bottom. If your entire pot has a congealed consistency, there might be something wrong with it.

My normal process is to shake well, and then use a dropper (from the ¥100 shop) to move some paint from the middle of the pot to a separate cup before painting. I also keep a separate brush (synthetic) just for VLM.

Definitely more work, but I think it's worth it.

Looked outside and said "stay inside". Snowed all day here which allowed me to not do gf stuff but instead get more base coats on my vindicator, whirlwind and close combat dread. Now cooking up dinner of blueberry balsamic salmon, bearnaise sauce on asparagus and cheese and bread topped beans. If you are gonna stay in and paint all day, gotta have good grub.

Wow, that sounds delicious! :!: Next time you come to Joshin, mind bring some along? :D

Today, I played Mike at Warhammer. It was an entertaining game. Then there was a game of treasure hunting with Konrad's Undead. He walked off with the gold after we whacked each other a bit. It was also very fun.

Now, to the painting table. Priming some new models followed by maybe working on the DAs.

Had a lazy day at home, woke up around lunchtime, did some reports for work and then started working on some terrain. Today I got all the components I need to build a bridge out of cut to shape and measured up. I also built a ruined farmhouse and a picket fence.

I bet step 1 for building a ruined farmhouse is "Acquire intact farmhouse"… :D

@Ten - ta for the info :)

Today, as with yesterday, I worked :(

Tomorrow, however, I am off. But I do have a bunch of work that I had to bring home with me :(

This evening, I installed then played Silent Hill:Downpour for slightly over an hour. In that time I encountered 1 monster and 1 mailman. It was, nonetheless, a harrowing hour. Good game, but quite intense. Not especially relaxing, I have to say.

Remember the peanut fiasco. Heaven forbid another :roll: but fear not. I hope to have a 40k games day at my place in the very near future. I usually do up my chicken wings and grub for entertaining as I used to do with my paintball teams.

Today I did some gold highlighting on the Sanguinary guard models and drilled some holes on the grey knight arms. Then work.
