The clear bases worked perfectly. Let's play!

Looks great! I have the old space hulk & expansions. Maybe I need to get painting on those genestealers....

The clear bases are a terrific idea.

I'm actually only a bit more than half done with the painting - but a game this summer-ish is definitely going to be doable!

Actually, as part of this hobby log, here's my model inventory. I'll update it as I go on.

Painted & based
6 Termagants (I have more, but not enough bases at the moment.)
4 Genestealers
5 Orks
SM Scout Squad
SM Tactical Squad

Painting
SM Tactical Squad

Assembled
4 Hormagaunts
2 more Genestealers
SM Assault Squad
SM Terminator Squad
SM Terminator Captain

In the Mail
3 Tyranid Warriors

And that will give me everything I need for a mid-sized game - and since full-sized games can, in the classic tradition of board games of this sort, take several days to play, that's where I've decided to stop. :) It'll give me plenty of unit diversity on both sides, which counters the biggest complaint lots of folks had about the game, that just Scouts versus Warriors gets old after a bit.

Cool! I have the original and most of the expansions, (it was a used box, I'm sure there are bits and pieces missing). Hulk-o-rama!

Do eet! There was talk of organizing a "boarding action game day," after all.

(If you have, and could see yourself parting with, two or three of the plastic hybrids, let me know...)

Finished up the second tactical squad. It looks pretty much the same as the first, only with a missile launcher, nicer yellow and fewer mold lines, so no picture for the moment. The inventory stands at:

Painted & based
6 Termagants
4 Genestealers
5 Orks
5-man SM Scout Squad
2 5-man SM Tactical Squads

Painting
4 Hormagaunts

Assembled
2 more Genestealers
5-man SM Assault Squad
SM Terminator Squad
SM Terminator Captain

In the Mail
3 Tyranid Warriors
