ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED?!!!

Ah, spent-wasted the night watching-rewatching Gladiator. Oh, so silly and ludicrous, but yet still so satisfying to see a good revenge story once in a while. And it's got probably the best battle scene of any movie. Oh, I'm rewatching that scene before the Epic event and History Hammer! :D

Spent the day suffering in the heat, escaping to the local children's center with my little girl to play table tennis and read Crayon Shin-chan manga. I should say "study" Crayon shin chan manga. She's read them all 30 of them 3 times. I'm on #4. Got a bit paint on a bike. I haven't painted anything in a while, and it's too damn hot to do any wet on wet blending. Not entirely satisfied. Tested some Turner acrylic gouache. Gouache is like regular old artists acrylic paint in a tube, but with a heavier pigment. I'm willing to bet it's what GW calls "foundation" paint. It worked quite nice. Got a smooth, deep yellow over black in two coats when i did it right.
Been watching some silly-ludicrous stuff myself. Star Trek- Enterprise....... I had to be charitable to get through the face-palming stupidity of the first few episodes, but now that the characters are starting to grow on me... well it's easier to grant them that charity. Some interesting themes, and that's what Trek has always been about, characters and themes, certainly not plots and acting or breathtaking special effects.
@Prim- SFB? You find it? My disruptors are charged!
@MIJ- elfy stuff from scratch, man just join the Waaaaagh and get ugly with the rest of us. We kalz it "konveshun" 'ere. I know there are all kinds of curved rulers and cutting guides and things in the hardware/hobby stores if forced to make it from scratch.
@all planning their escape from this swealtering hell, safe journey. Watch out for Klingons.
...and now his Head was full of nothing but Inchantments, Quarrels, Battles, Challenges, Wounds, Complaints, Amours, and abundance of Stuff and Impossibilities.....

me_in_japan wrote:Today I was at work all day, but in the evening I prepped the jetbike carapaces for gluing at a later date, and started assembling my cold ones. Yeah. You heard me. I said cold ones. Ridiculous mould lines on em, too. I also diddled around with my vyper-soon-to-be-venom. It's proving very difficult to come up with a decent solution to the passenger bit at the back. In a perfect world I'd just use a DE venom and switch out the carapace for an Eldar one, but as it happens I have 2 spare Vypers and no spare venoms, so I'm left trying to build a passenger deck thingy out of nothing. If anybody has any bright ideas, I'm all ears. Any spare elf chariots would be marvellous useful...[/blind optimism]
Elf Chariots you say? I have a couple still in their boxes.

@Konrad - I think I know where it is and I have all the rulebooks and ship information sheets on my PC.

Worked on my Vistula Lancers and got some distance on them. I also learned a bit more on the structure of dark matter in the universe. Very cool.

Now I should sleep.

Today I spent many hours sitting in a non-airconned house waiting for the aircons to be installed. That said, come 3pm no man has ever been happier than I to hear that glorious "beep" of the aircon being activated.

I also (after a shower, I might add) went to see world war Z. Pretty good, actually. A few moments where the more analytically minded might say "hmmm. Methinks nay", but generally an entertaining movie.

Finally, today my birthday present from FW arrived. In summary: the warhammer forge stuff is ace. Really looking forward to it. The Eldar flyer is...well, it's...probably fixable, but damn I haven't seen such a screwed up cast since I looked at some finecrap in GW Glasgow a year ago. I'm not happy at all, tbh. Major, major warping in multiple directions (on the fricking wings!!), fuzzy detail due to early demoulding, and lots and loooooots of mega-flash to clean off. I will need to get in there with a saw to remove it - a knife will not do for this lot. After that, I'll need to dremel out the bits a saw cant reach. Then I can get in with a hairdryer to attempt to re-bend the wings, tail fins and miscellaneous gibbons, after which I can start re-sculpting all the lost detail. Then, and only then will I be able to start assembly.

Hum :(

Today I played Malifaux and Warmachine. Tonight I am hoping to get some Roman architecture painted up.

@M_i_J - Get in contact with FW and complain. There is no reason why you should have to accept faulty goods.

Today I went to see pacific rim. Bloody good show :) don't expect anything too cerebral, but if you like giant robots beating seven kinds of crap out of giant monsters (and who doesn't?) then this is a doozy :)

Re: FW issues. Ok, here's some pics. Am I being a big girl's blouse or is this complaint-worthy?

These first 3 shots are of the tail fins. They're supposed to be straight and symmetrical.

Imagenose tip

Image rune work

Image panel lines (and a fugly pilot, but that's a sculpting issue, probly.)

Image one of many annoying mould lines.

Image and the wings... :?

I reorganized my gaming storage, woo! Exciting!

(It did help - most of my stuff is now easier to get to, and less of it has to live out in the open.)
Feel free to call me Dave!
