Also just finished reading A Feast For Crows. That was hard going.
Int'restin. How does Dys Wars play? I quite like the aesthetic, but don't know owt about the rules.
No idea. Not played yet. Getting the minis finished first.
Also, you didn't like aFfC? Is that the second one or the third one? I remember the 2nd one was good, but the 3rd one got a bit trudgy. That said, I did read em all twice (once at first then again just before I got Dance with Dragons, to remind myself wth was going on.)
Fourth. The one without any of the characters anyone's interested in. :) I'd like a re-edited version, with each character's bits collected together, and a decent timeline. Then I can skip all the boring bits with Samwell or the Greyjoys and just look them up on Wikipedia.

On holiday at the in-laws today. I brought some minis with me and managed to get a couple undercoated. Off out tonight to see some documentary movie about new sea life around the Pacific area. Maybe it will be entertaining? :D

Today my wife and I left the house 7am on our bicycles, caught the train to Ogaki, transfered to the Tarumi line, got off at Tarumi, rode down the valley on our bicycles, enjoyed swimming at one river access (beautifully clean water and very refreshing when swimming), stopped later to eat ayu- sweet fish- (one cooked in sweetened soy sauce, another served as sashimi, another deep-fried, another two grilled with salt and finally one last one grilled and served with miso all topped off with a pot of zousui flavored with the stock of ayu- it was fantanstic!), drank tons of sports drinks, bottled teas and such, rode to my grandmother's place in Ichinomiya, enjoyed sushi and a beer, watched the Oonobihashi taikai's fireworks from the back yard of the house (the fireworks are fired directly across the river from where she lives), did ohakamairi at my grandfather's tomb and finally arrived back in Nagoya.

I think that was a relatively well lived day. :D Now I might even indulge in painting a tidbit. :D

Worked on painting up some trolls.

Prim: I quite liked that documentary. Turns out they had to build robotic probes to interact with the new sea life.

Pacific Rim Spoiler Alert - If you haven't seen it yet (and why not?) turn away now.

Why the [expletive] didn't they use that sword earlier? Seriously, it seems like a much better option than the go-go-gadget rocket punch.

Apart from that, not a bad flick. Hopefully Michael Bay will take a few pointers about not making all the action scenes so blurry you cant make out anything in the upcoming Transformers 4.

Wonder how long before the studios greenlight PR2?

Hey! Don't spoil it for people!

@prim: good god man, don't analyze it. What kinda movie do you think you're dealing with here?
Actually, there are some quite amusing and informative analyses of PR on the net at the mo. Science geeks picking it apart. Still, they all seem to agree that it was a heap of fun, so screw the science and let's all watch big robots punching big monsters :D

The more I think about that movie, the more I like it. Just the right balance of seriousness and POW! WHAP! KERSPLAT!

Today I bought a washing machine at a nice discount in the sales, and also discovered that a nice wooden carport costs 990,000yen. Yes, that's right kids, that's almost a million yen for a wooden hut with no walls. Makes you wonder how those rainforest tribespeople can afford so many of em  Seriously, for that kind of money I think I'll just put up with a toasty car...

As well as that, I worked on my pirate cap'n, the base for my flyer, and I also started packing up all my miniatures. Every. Single. One.

Really quite a depressing experience. Where in t'hell did they all come from?

Just a 1/1 scale model, right? I come from a long line of handymen, a line that terminated with me as I am utterly hopeless when it comes to building anything practical. Anything I have done around the house ends up looking like.....well, I play Orks......... Sort of miss it though.
...and now his Head was full of nothing but Inchantments, Quarrels, Battles, Challenges, Wounds, Complaints, Amours, and abundance of Stuff and Impossibilities.....
