large scale or small, dem eldar titans can play whack-an-ork with the best of em...Admiral-Badruck wrote:Wow... That is one big Metro looking Killer of Orks...
@ToD - you're a veritable painting powerhouse of late. Im impressed

btw, I have an old-school eldar revenant titan model for epic going a-begging. Id prefer to trade it, but its not really doing much on my shelf at the moment, so I could be bargained down to not very much. They used to come in pairs, so i dunno if youd need his better half (i aint got it) and he's pug ugly compared to the flashy new leapy jumpy efforts, but anyway, he's there if youre interested.

@MIJ: I don't know what's gotten into me! And all for a game I play two or three times a year, heh.
I'd be interested in a Revenant - I'm always ready to add some old-skool models to my Epic forces. I probably don't have anything you'd want in trade, though. I've been good for the past few years at only buying stuff I really intend to paint. Let me know what kind of thing you're looking for, though, and I'll see what I can do.

hmmn. bitz are always welcome. I play eldar for 40k. If (and its a helluva reach, here, i know) if you had any spare titan wings Id love em, as they are ace for pimping out 40k jetbikes with. Somewhat unlikely that youd have em spare, though, but a guy can hope, ne?
Aside from that, stuff like skulls, spare bits of warjack (for making wreck markers), useful little doohickeys for putting on bases, old school OOP minis of any kind, etc etc would all be good.
failing that, a beer would be nice

Re: Painting Goals Motivational Thread
One more quick update before the hay is hit:

(There's going to be more shading and highlighting on the blue and yellow, and the nodule thingies are probably going to get the red gem treatment across the board. I just wanted to get the main colors blocked out and the main assembly done so my greasy fingers don't rub paint off while I work.)

Looking good. How do you intend to shade/highligh the yellow? I find it to be a bit of a bugger, especially the shading. Highlights can be done with a smidge of white, but the shading can go in all kinds of directions, depending on what colour you shade with. What's your recipe?
btw - whats the rubble on the base? Its very bombed-out-building looking.

Re: Painting Goals Motivational Thread
The base yellow is Citadel Golden Yellow, so it's pretty warm. I'll do a sharp highlight just up through Vallejo Lemon Yellow (usually I just drybrush, but this guy deserves better) for the edges of plates and similar bits, then just do a bit of a wash around the few bits that need shadow like those weird crenelations under the shoulder pads and the nodule thingies with a mix of golden yellow and a spot of brown ink, to give them some definition.me_in_japan wrote:Looking good. I've found, with the rest of my Eldar at Epic scale anyway, that you don't really need to do a whole lot of shading with yellow if the base coat is strong enough - I'm really loving the Citadel Golden Yellow for this. It takes several thin passes to get an even coat, but once that's down it looks really nice (I suspect that if I'd splurged for the Citadel yellow basecoat shade I'd be having an even easier time of it). It also seems to be helping that the contrast with the blue is quite striking.
The base is just ruined building bits from the Epic 40,000 box set and sand.
