Ask a silly question. :D
LAOK covers a lot of different wars, but doesn't really go into a lot of detail about any of them. The FIW is covered with basic stats for Indians and European regulars, but there isn't an awful lot more to it I'm afraid. If that is the only period in the book you're interested in, you're better off just saving your money.

Cheers, I thought that you might have that one on the shelf! I suspected it might be a cursory kind of army list approach given the ground it seems to cover in a shortish book, although given it's warlord, its likely to be very decent quality. My interest is mainly in FIW for that period thus far, so probably not worth a punt just yet.
Great conquest/warlord figures available though as has been kindly posted earlier in the thread.

One suggestion that I have seen bandied about is the use of Bolt Action for FIW in place of Black Powder. BP works well when you have large regiments manouvering in lines and columns, but unless you really want to paint up hundreds of Indians and Red Coats, something more skirmishy fits better. Of course, there are also the Musket and Tomohawk rules you mentioned earlier, which are made for the period. I guess it all depends on how much you want to fork out for rules compared with putting in the time and effort to rejig an existing rule set.

I managed to advance two AC teams to the almost finshed staged, based some infantry and painted a winged fantasy girl.

Yay me!

Last night I ended up painting my Land Skimmer Typhoon. I might be the third or forth person who has painted the model because it is pretty chunky and mottled, as it was previously primed and fitted out as a Templar vehicle and under that in places it was orange and likely a Minotaur. Regardless, it was fun to paint up and today I continued working on it after washes and then highlights. I also worked on my French infantry at the same time.

@Prim, yeah, I think a skirmishy approach to French Indian War is sensible and more what I'm tempted by, especially given the lack of plastics for the period. I don't think I could face the prospect of painting another army on the scale needed for say, BP (although my French naps are still a small force, they were and are pretty gruelling to paint).
Adapting BA seems like a decent idea, although work would be needed.
I hear muskets and tomohawks is pretty familar stuff, similar to other systems rules wise, but there are some great ideas that make it worthwhile. it does feature a nice card driven activation system, and a plethora of interesting objectives in each scenario, far beyond what we normally see on the tabletop. Minis on the northstar site for it are bloody nice too. Gah.

In other hobby activity, looked at some drop pods which I picked up when ai was in the UK with a view to making a drop pod Space Wolves army for Nagoyahammer, which I hope I can attend this time. Do people model said pods with opening doors? I expect yes because of line of sight, but its a lot more work for a lazy man.

I'll keep an ear to the ground for you Rich. Any particular work you were looking for?
I have done no painting. So another one of my resolutions was only post on here when I have done some. That's broken already then.

Forget about yesterday, don't worry about tomorrow because all that matters is today.

Today I was able to assemble y FoW Panhard AMD-35 platoon. I added some more paint to the FoW French infantry platoon and lastly I began working on some devastator models.

Working on some GorkamorkaSquata figures. I had one of my Mob go to 'da Doks to get his eye injury treated and he game out with a pair of steel horns. The hairy fellow will be the mob's Slaver.
I'm also working on some scratch built Diggaz. Managed to sculpt a really lovely bare foot. See if the left one comes out this weekend.
