Some Celts

And some gun turrets for 40K, Razorback/Whirlwind turrets mounted on Planetstrike accessories.

They are based on the FW Tarantula guns, which were FW Razorback/Whirlwind turrets on a firing platform.

I like those celts. They make it quite tempting to make an army.

@Prim- So can we assume that we'll be seeing those gun turret on the Nagoyahammer tables? "NagoyaHammer Remote Gun Emplacement- At the start of each player's turn, before any other actions are resolved, the NH-RGE will target and fire at the nearest unit. If more than one unit is the same distance, randomly resolve which unit is targeted."

You'll be seeing them in my army if you play me. The heavy bolter ones must always shoot the nearest enemy infantry in their front 90゚ arc. If there are no infantry in the arc they shoot the nearest enemy unit in their front arc. If there are no targets in the front arc they don't do anything. The missile launcher is a bit better, beinng able to choose it's target and shooting at aircraft with interceptor and skyfire.

My army rules can be downloaded for free from the FW website.

The rules for those 'static, immobile, unmoveable' guns are in the fast attack section. ???

Had a spare couple of hours at work today so I' thought I'd see how the shanty town looks on a table.

The first pic is on a 6x4.5 ft table.

The next is on a 4.5x 3 ft one.

I've still got three or four more buildings I want to do, then I'm going to start making signs for the buildings.

If anyone has any ideas about anything else that might suit the terrain, please chime in.

@Spev - It looks better all clustered up. Shanty towns shouldn't have large spacious avenues and parks.
As for extras, some barricades made from old tyres, a scrap yard with broken down vehicles and a derelict factory would all fit your theme I reckon.

IIRC, there's two firing modes for the Tarantulas - one shorter-ranged with a 360 degree fire arc, one longer with a 90 degree arc.

Good shout on using those fortification turrets; might have to steal that. :)

I'll stick to the 90゚ one I think, the 360゚ firing mode might be useful, but the longer range is better in my view. (Note, I haven't used them yet).
As I had some spare turrets lying around and the rules don't specify tarantula systems, I figured it was a fair compromise to use the fortification pieces. Plus, spending 17 pounds plus shipping for a 15 point model is hard to justify. :D

Good ideas, cheers.

I'm not to fussed about looking clustered on the big board as that'll just be for 40K games, but I do want it nice and claustrophobic for the skirmish table.

I may knock out some fences too. Maybe some crates of beer :)

lovely shanty town, el speverino. Just right for piratey types to raid

Also, how about some kind of tall structure for the shanty town? A guard post, or maybe a water tower. Some kind of rickety metal structure with a small bit at the top to put a couple of minis.

This evening (and the past few) I have been painting guns. I hate painting guns, so I do

and then I ran out of clear red. Double

Ah well, I'm off on a school trip tomorrow, so it woulda been a no-painty night anyway (it's an overnight trip). Hopefully I can find a purveyor of Tamiya paints that can ship me some by friday evening...
