I'm curious - what do people think of all the daemon summoning shenanigans that are being touted on t'interwebz? I've heard tell of it being possible to vastly, vastly inflate your army by summoning hordes of daemons. In a regular "I have one librarian" army it seems fine, maybe summon one or two units, but suppose you had as little as 2 chaos sorcerers, both casting summons every turn? Is that cheese? Obviously you could take it further and have the ol' army-of-heralds-of-Tzeentch, but while that's clearly ass-hattery of the highest order, where do folks draw the line? Take Dlord's (now defunct) 1k sons army. He could've been summoning daemons up the wazoo every turn, and it'd've been fluffy too.
What say you all?
I'm just getting opinions here, btw. I have 1 sorcerer for my nurglies (unbuilt) and 14 plaguebearers. My Eldar will never summon daemons cos I look disapprovingly upon such antics. I ask for folks opinions merely for my own edification and perhaps to stimulate a bit o chat. Fear ye not

I just bought Badrucks daemons.....
Having looked over the rules, it's possible to do it if you can generate enough warp charge. You need on average 6 points a turn to summon one unit of 10 bloodletters/horrors etc. The bigger stuff normally involves sacrificing something else to do it. Tzeentch armies can easily get the points to make it feasible.
Bear in mind that any non-daemon trying to summon rolls perils on any double. Since you have to throw 6 dice at it to make it work....
Daemon armies that rely on summoning are the new cheese.

Not read owt about it, but Death Guard summoning plague bearers should have been in the CSM codex from the getgo imho, so have it mate!me_in_japan wrote:I'm curious - what do people think of all the daemon summoning shenanigans that are being touted on t'interwebz? So I received my Rulebook from Ring Tail today, and I was pleasantly surprised with my reaction. The rules were rules, maybe a bit too complicated for my taste, but there were several improvements.
But what really made me satisfied was the fluff book. It is immensely detailed, nicely edited and well illustrated. It on its own makes me want to play 40k.

I've enjoyed the fluff book too, and there are some cracking illustrations. I think it could have included even more, but it isn't lacking particularly. A great idea to split it into 3 volumes.
I take my hat off to the team who put it together. To those who priced the thing, I put it back on again.

Yeah, the price is really a killer. I'd like to buy but no way am I shelling out that price for a lot of cute pictures that I mostly have and a rule set that was just redid a short while ago.Lovejoy wrote:I've enjoyed the fluff book too, and there are some cracking illustrations.
