Well, today I wasn't involved in a bit of a rear-ender, so to speak

No injuries, thankfully, but am slightly concerned by te other guy seeming to change his story between the police station (where what he said concurred with what I said) and what he said when he called to discuss insurance. We shall see. Fortunately, I was stationary when it happened (was waiting in traffic) so if justice is done (and I trust it will) hopefully my insurance record will remain unsullied. Fingers crossed...

Now all I have to do is wait for the whiplash to set in...

Hope everything works out ok. Whiplash can be pretty nasty stuff. My wife was fine the day after she was involved in a traffic accident, but the next day she could barely move at all.

@MiJ, sincerely hope you weren't injured. It may be worth a check up if it was more than a shunt, you never know. Good that it was not more serious though, eh.
@Konrad, absolutely superb stuff there! I love the metal mudflap girl particularly, nice touch. I guess they're from a redneck ork tribe rather than the football hooligan variety. I hope to try my hand at some terrain buildings and conversions this year. My only minor triumph in that department has been an Amon Hen for a one of LotR game Ash and I played aeons ago, but I had such fun building it. I want to get some plasticard on a battlewagon the Madmiral furnished me with, but no idea re thicknesses or stockists. Must pick your brains some time.
@Prim, congratulations on getting the plans more or less finalised. Hope to make inroads myself towards that sooner rather than later. As to the debt, well, it's only money

And..Tired but happy today, as I have come to the end of my second to last Saturday at my current job at a certain big Eikaiwa in Meieki. 7 working days to go, I finish on July 16th, then a much deserved holiday in the UK (Cumbria to show Louis to his grandparents, then 6 days in London). I'll get home on August 1st, and job hunting begins. Huzzah.

@MiJ: that's a rough bit. It is good you are well enough to walk away from it all, but I hope you don't suffer any whiplash or soreness. As for the other guy, if he has been changing his statements, that is pretty damning in of itself. Do go see a doctor to cover all your bases.

Today I worked, quickly met up with my wife, and had dinner with my mother and my relatives. But I am dead tired. As I am staying at my grandmother's tonight there will be no progress in the painting department.

@MiJ - Agree with Job, if the person is changing their story...sigh...too much to ask for a little honesty, eh. Good luck mate. I see a lot of rear ends being buckled around here, and a lot of people watching telly, kids jumping all about the inside of the car, sending of line messages - a connection? Me thinks so.

As for me, I tidied up, sold some stuff on ebay, organised my paints and then sat and stared at my unpainted minis. Tyranids to finishs, Raptors to start, Gunsmiths to finish and Pirates to paint! Arrrg it be a lot to do, arrg! Yeah...doesn't sound any less daunting in a pirate voice.

@M_i_J - Speaking from experience here. Get yourself to a hospital and get checked out. Any aches, twinges or niggles should be reported. Make sure your insurance company knows you are going. Whiplash is very hard to prove either way and the other guys insurance company will go as far as possible to prevent paying out for anything beyond getting the car door fixed up. Even if you think you are fine now, get to the docs and get looked at properly. After Miyu's accident, the insurance company did their level best to discredit all of her claims. Having a doctor's note makes things a lot easier, especially if something develops later as a result of the accident.

Today I did some base coats on some Raven Guard and a handful of Reaper Bones minis. I also looked at the minis I picked up off Badruck last weekend. They were in a less 'fully painted army' condition than I had remembered them to be. Stupid memory. Now I'm trying to figure out what to do with an army of semi-painted marines made from a mix of Khorne Beserkers and regular marine parts....

@Koji - Seriously mate, you have it easy with your collection. Just wait 10 more years or so.

Well, at the moment the guy who hit me (a young guy, btw. Younger than me) is saying that he wants me to take some of the blame. If he'd said that from the outset I might have been more amenable, but there's a special place in Da Bad Fire for people who change their story. I suspect it's because since he want back and checked his insurance he's found that he's personally liable for about 10man (iirc) and so now all of a sudden he has a vested interest in shirking the blame). The fact of te matter is that I was stationary, I didn't stop suddenly or owt, and he planked into the back of me, either because he wasn't paying attention or he had some issue with his brakes. Either way, t'weren't my fault.

At the moment I feel ok physically, but should anything start twinging I shall hie me to the nearest doctor sharpish. I really hope I'm ok, though, as work is due to be mega busy next week and it'd be a major major hassle if I had to miss any days. Mostly I'm just pissed cos this guy changing his story has meant a huge amount of hassle for my wife in dealing with the insurance companies. Seems deeply unfair

Anyway, we shall see what the morrow brings. Thanks for the support, lads

From my experience, and having spoken to insurance blokes, you'll be liable for a small percentage of the blame. That is just the way it works here.

I was crossing the street, in the bike lane of a pedestrian crossing, and I had a green light when an old guy hit my back wheel. I was still considered to be 5% liable. The police said that it was just from a technical standpoint and that I wasnt actually to blame at all. Just sitting in your car will be enough I reckon.
