Prepping for September's Joshin

Post by Primarch » Thu Jul 10, 2014 10:06 am

I know it is a way off yet, but I want to see if there is any interest in setting up a specific game so that I can plan out my painting schedule. I have a Sengoku game lined up in August, so I'd like to organise this game for Joshin in September.

As some of you may know, I have been working on two armies for the Anglo-Zulu War, a Zulu force and a British force (obviously). For those of you not familiar with the conflict, I recommend the excellent film Zulu, which covers a tiny fraction of the war, (taking a few historical liberties along the way  ).

As it stands, I have enough minis done now to play a basic game and I'm thinking to add a couple more units in the next two months if I can. I'll be using the Black Powder rule-set with a few small tweaks to help get the flavour of colonial warfare, so if you've played BP before or it's siblings Hail Caesar and Pike & Shotte, there isn't much to it. If you haven't played BP before, but want to try out the game, then that's fine too. The rules are easy to pick up.

Before anyone asks, no, this won't be a recreation of Rorke's Drift, but something of a 'what if' scenario based on events during the war. I don't mind playing once in the morning and again in the afternoon if people want to give it a whirl. I'm happy to umpire 1 game, so I can accommodate up to 3 players. I will of course supply everything people will need for the game, down to dice and a tape measure if need be.

So, anyone interested? Or, in the words of the immortal Pikey. What say you, savages?

I wouldn't mind a game. Do I have to talk like Michael Caine throughout?

If it's a miracle, Colour Sergeant, it's a short chamber Boxer Henry point 45 caliber miracle.
Always loved the film Zulu! I'd be interested in participating. :D

Me and Stooge have got some Gorkamorka going down. He's building some "Segwaaaagh Warbikes". Anyone else want to jump in?

Just waking the thread up.
So, thus far hopefully I and others (MtP, Kojibear, Yellowstreak, Prim?) will be joining an AZW game or games, if everything is still going to plan. I wondered what else people are keen to play following this? I know Gorkamorka is on (happy to try it), and wondered is there any interest in other games?

I am planning in coming up for some Warmachine and I will bring a board game or two along. Probably Cash 'n' Guns 2.0 and something else.
