Sweet monkey on a bicycle, that thing can carry 10 marines, or 10 terminators!! It has a 5+ invulnerable save on the front armour and can ram up to 36"! Take that Star Engined FalconsPrimarch wrote:They do indeed look rather tasty.

Re: Forge World News
Yeah, I got that in my mail too. Jesus FuDGE. Pardon the expletive, but seriously, if people start using that thing I aint playing em. Do people not understand the concept of "fair" any more? I mean, fine if youre playing a scenario or something, but there are absolutely people out there who will use stuff like that at tournaments. I mean seriously, 36" per turn, 4+ cover save, AV13 on front PLUS 5+ invul save, PLUS a 5" blast melta gun. Oh, and its immune to melta weapons itself and will freakin destroy anything it rams (At 36" a turn that means S12 PLUS 2D6 damage (choose highest)). And it has ten terminators inside. Can you seriously imagine, even if you try really hard, a more broken creation? Lets break it down here:
speed: fastest thing in the game
Gun: largest blast in the game, highest AP in the game, melta special rule, S8
Armour: "only" 13, but is also the only vehicle in the game with an invulnerable save.
Transport: 10 terminators. Nothing else in 40K can carry that many models (equivalent of 20 regular guys). Its an assault vehicle, too.
I know it sounds like I'm complaining here, but I really, really think I have grounds for it this time. The only way this could possibly be a more broken vehicle is if it was AV14 all round. Thats it. I cant think of any ways to break it further.
Oh, and its a fugly model, too.
Colour me deeply unimpressed

THREE inch blast. IG have the same thing on a fast tank with a 24" range at half the pointsme_in_japan wrote:PLUS a 5" blast melta gun.....Gun: largest blast in the game, highest AP in the game, melta special rule, S8
On it's narrow front end only and its a 5+, most of the time you'll be taking a cover save instead. And if you do beat its save, then you can pop it. No special immortal-vehicle-stones like some armiesme_in_japan wrote:Armour: "only" 13, but is also the only vehicle in the game with an invulnerable save.
Land Raider Crusaders can carry 8. They are assault vehicles too. And AV14 all over.me_in_japan wrote:Transport: 10 terminators. Nothing else in 40K can carry that many models (equivalent of 20 regular guys). Its an assault vehicle, too.
Nah, its just that your Eldar dex is over costed so by comparison everything else seems better.me_in_japan wrote:but I really, really think I have grounds for it this time.
The rear end looks land speeder-esque, the front is reminiscient of a Land Raider. Looks fine to me. Sorry it doesnt have all those graceful curves and little wingy bits like your space pixies.me_in_japan wrote:Oh, and its a fugly model, too.

Hey, dont Eldar have vehicles that are immune to melta?me_in_japan wrote:its immune to melta weapons
Strength caps at 10. (everything caps at 10). However, it is still taking a S10 +1d6 hit itself. Even with it's save this means that its taking damage pretty often. Plus, at 235 points the only things worthwhile ramming will be a Monolith or a Land Raider. Everything else is a waste.me_in_japan wrote:that means S12 PLUS 2D6 damage

Re: Forge World News
24" plus 12". That indeed makes 36". I didnt say it was faster than anything else in the game, just the fastest thing. A star engined falcon is also, equally, the fastest thing in the game. Except significantly more fragile, and only capable of carrying 6 guys. It doesnt have a doom melta, either. How fast do star engined Falcons move again?
Falcons cant deep strike, either.
5", chief. Read em carefully.THREE inch blast. IG have the same thing on a fast tank with a 24" range at half the points
Weapon Range Strength AP Type
Magna-Melta 18” 8 1 Heavy 1, 5” Blast, Melta
Its the AV 13 thats gonna cause the problems. the 5+ invul is just adding insult to injury. Dont get me started on the 4+ invul save for scooting. That thing is tougher than a titan! (well, an eldar titan...) And the front end aint that narrow. Its significantly wider than a land raider...On it's narrow front end only and its a 5+, most of the time you'll be taking a cover save instead.
Land raider crusaders arent behind the enemy's deployment zone on turn 1...Land Raider Crusaders can carry 8. They are assault vehicles too. And AV14 all over.
it's a brick. A brick with a split prow, but still a brick. The rear end looks land speeder-esque, the front is reminiscient of a Land Raider. Looks fine to me. Sorry it doesnt have all those graceful curves and little wingy bits like your space pixies.
yes, but theyre not AV13. That means the multitude of S6 weapons in the game can hurt em. This thing is immune to every single (non-D-weapon) gun in the eldar codex bar melta guns and brightlances, and those need 5\4 to glance on 6/5 to penetrate and you still get a 5+ save against it (or a 4+ if you zoomed, which you probably did.) It's also AV 11 on the back, rendering it completely immune to all eldar infantry CC attacks except power claws and witch blades. And yes, I know I'm looking at it from an Eldar POV. That's cos that's the army I play.Hey, dont Eldar have vehicles that are immune to melta?
fair enough. I guess that makes it ok. Oh, wait a minute...!Strength caps at 10. (everything caps at 10). However, it is still taking a S10 +1d6 hit itself. Even with it's save this means that its taking damage pretty often. Plus, at 235 points the only things worthwhile ramming will be a Monolith or a Land Raider. Everything else is a waste.
The thing which bugs me most about this thing is that it totally removes any tactics from army choice. With most units, you have to weigh up the pros and cons of using it in any given circumstance. Will it be worth its points? Are its guns good against the enemy you're up against? etc, etc. Not with this you dont. Its as fast as an eldar, as shooty as an IG tank, and as tough as a titan. Plus, you can carry troops in it! Competitively speaking, why the hell would you ever NOT take three of these?
A final rant: It's a ship-to-ship deep space assault boat. What the hell is it doing on the 40k battlefield? It is kitted out exclusively to ram space ships, burn a huge hole in their side, and deploy a boarding party. um...atmospheric maneuverability? Why would it even need this? Ablative armour for re-entry? again, why? And finally, a ship-to-ship boarding vehicle is gonna travel so fast that itd zip across a 40k battlefield in less time than it takes an eldar player to find something to complain about. It's just a stupid, stupid, dumb idea all round. Bad fluff, bad model, broken rules. I shall say no more on this subject cos it's hacking me off just thinking about it.
OK now. Think Cryx: ooooooooohhhhhhmmmmmmmmmmmm *dave assumes lotus position*

You have read the memo that went round GW and FW about this haven't you?
And the rules are listed as experimental. I guess they will be edited at some point in the future.
Sorry, you were right about the melta. Its still only the centre of the template that gets the melta rule though. (At least it should be if the IG version is anything to go by).To all design slaves,
It would appear that one Mr. D. Boyle, a resident of Japan, has taken great offence at the inclusion of the Storm Raven in the Blood Angels codex. Anyone who is capable of coming up with a unit that can upset him more than the Storm Raven is entitled to 2 hours vacation (unpaid) to visit their family and loved ones.

Hey Spevna, if you get some time in between your other little projects, any chance you could knock up one of those bad boys for me?

Re: Forge World News
well I think it is a bit over priced S7 can still hurt it and ST will waist it... if you can charge it with a power fist it will go down... the Blood Angels Dreads will have a love this thing... bring it close and the punch the hell out of it...
Looks cool
looks fun and I think my orks would still rather face this thing than a LR Reamer.
I really want one for my Read scorpions... for them I will have you buy the Real model... maybe they can finally win a game...
