Santa's sled

Post by job » Mon Aug 11, 2014 2:33 pm

With Viking runes and a wolf Comet.

I love the runes and detail on the model. Very nice, but its a flying/hover sled. C'mon? This is the 41st Millennium. Do the dogs float too?

I knew exactly what this post would be about before I clicked on it to read. Let's just say that my Wolves won't include one of those. Why is it so gaudy and gold? With all those camp Liberace stylings, It's like a senior citizens gay pride parade float. As well as, you know, Santa.

Bloody awful.

To be fair to the gay community and to senior citizens I doubt this float would be up to Pride standards but I see what you are getting at. This sort of zaniness might have been better for a Marius Leitdorf army in fantasy battle. Fantasy seems to be more kitch these days compared with how it was, I hate to see 40k take the same ironic camp stance.
I think I may have worked out what the problem with many of the modern sculpts from GW in the past couple of years may be. Proportion. There is a distinct lack of balance in the models and their sense of proportion. I think when I saw ogres riding boars alarm bells started ringing. This model is a disgrace to the wolves and their whole dark forboding background. I'm guessing the sculptors wanted something hover for 2015.
Hey McFly, Hover sleighs don't work on water! Unless you got power!
Forget about yesterday, don't worry about tomorrow because all that matters is today.
